Match Recap:

WINONA, Minn. (3/09/08)-- Concordia showed the effects of a 21-day layoff as they lost to St. Mary's 9-0 in Winona on Sunday. The Cobbers, who last played on Feb. 17, lose for the fourth time in the last five matches and drop to 2-5 on the year. CC is now 0-2 in conference matches. The Cardinals, one of the surprise teams in the MIAC this season win for the fifth straight time and improve to 7-2 overall and 3-2 in league play.

Despite the lopsided final score, Concordia lost two singles matches in the super-set tiebreaker. They also had a chance in the first two doubles matches of the event. In the No.1 doubles contest, the Cobbers' Ashley Leister and Lyndsi Tufte lost 8-4. The No.2 doubles tandem of Mollie Miller and Anna Matetich dropped a tight 8-6 affair.

In singles play, Amy Freeman lost 10-5 in the super-set tiebreaker after losing the first set 6-2 and then rallying to win the second set 6-1 in her match at No.4 singles. Kelsey Schendel was locked up in the tightest match of the day at No.5 singles. She won the first set 6-4 but then lost the second set 6-2 before falling 10-8 in the super-set tiebreaker.

Concordia will return home to face St. Olaf on Sunday, Mar. 16 at 8 a.m. at Court Plus in Fargo, N.D.
