- Concordia now 2-4 in dual matches this season - UM-Morris is 0-1 in dual matches in 2008 - Cobbers win second dual match of the season Match Recap: MOORHEAD, Minn. (2/17/08)-- Playing in their sixth match of the season, Concordia used their experience to cruise past UM-Morris 9-0. The Cobbers used 12 different players in the match as they picked up their second win of the year. The two wins are more than they had in all of 2007 and equals the win total from 2006. The win also snaps a three-match losing streak for CC. They are now 2-4 overall and 0-1 in the MIAC. The Cougars, playing in their first dual match of the season, fall to 0-1 and lose their season opener for the third straight season. The 9-0 win for Concordia marks the first time since the 1998 season that they have swept an opponent 9-0. The Cobbers dominated both the singles and doubles competition. The match started with singles play and Concordia lost only nine games in the entire six-match singles play. CC then turned around and used six new players in doubles and did not lose a single game in the three matches. In singles play, Mollie Miller and Kelsey Schendel rolled to 6-0, 6-0 victories playing at No.1 and No.3 singles respectively. No.4 singles player Melanie Gail and Mandy Whipps, playing at No.5 singles, lost only one game in their matches. For Gail it was her team-leading fourth win of the season. In doubles play, Ashley Leister and Lyndsi Tufte brought their season record to 2-3 at No.1 doubles with an 8-0 win. Playing in their first collegiate match, the freshmen doubles team of Rachel Pottenger and Janae Plummer scored a convincing 8-0 win at No.3 doubles. Concordia will have almost a full month off before returning to action on Mar. 9 when they play at St. Mary's at 9:30 a.m.
