Match Recap:

SRTELL, Minn. (2/04/07)-- Concordia opened its 2007 season by falling 9-0 to NCAA Division II opponent St. Cloud State on Sunday in Sartell, Minn.

The Cobbers, who are playing with several new faces in the lineup, showed their inexperience as the veteran Huskies were able to stay on top throughout the entire match.

The newly formed doubles team of sophomore Leah Enger and freshman Amy Freeman put up the toughest fight in the doubles competition. The Cobbers' No.3 doubles team fell 8-2 to Jacque Peterson and Kristie Eull.

In singles play, the top two Concordia singles players rallied throughout their matches but were unable to overcome their opponents. Freshman Ashley Leister lost 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 singles and senior Katie Luther lost by an identical 6-2, 6-2 margin at No. 2 singles.

The Cobbers will have almost a two-week break before getting back into action. Concordia will host MSU Moorhead on Friday, Feb. 16 at 5 p.m. at Courts Plus in Fargo, N.D.
