ST. PAUL, Minn. (4/10/06)-- Concordia senior pitcher Lindy Sparby (cold Spring, Minn./Cold Spring-Rocori HS) was named the MIAC Co-Pitcher of the Week for her four-game performance last week. It is the first time in her career that she has earned player of the week honors.

During her outstanding stretch last week, Sparby threw her first collegiate no-hitter and earned two wins for the Cobbers and helped Concordia keep pace in the MIAC playoff race. For the week she pitched four complete games and struck out 16 while posting an ERA of 3.13.

Sparby threw her first collegiate no-hitter on Thursday against Saint Benedict. Against the Blazers she only allowed one batter to reach first base. After a first-inning hit-by-pitch, she retired 19 straight batters to record only the second no-hitter in program history. For the game she struck out only three batters but induced 11 to hit the ball into the air.

In Concordia’s first series of the week, she pitched eight innings to earn the win against Augsburg, striking out a season-high 10 batters.

She pitched both games of the St. Ben's doubleheader. In the second game, she continued to no-hit the Blazers into the second inning. St. Ben's finally got a hit in the second. For the game, she pitched a complete-game allowing seven hits and three earned runs.

On Saturday she pitched the first game against St. Kate's and was saddled with the loss. She pitched her fourth complete game of the week. She allowed eight hits and four earned runs while striking out two.
