Doubleheader Recap:

NORTHFIELD, Minn. (4/17/10)-- Concordia faced its third straight conference top 3 opponent on Saturday and was swept by St. Olaf 12-4 (5 inn.) and 5-2 in Northfield. The Cobbers outhit the Oles 11-5 in the second game but were unable to come up with a clutch hit and fell for the sixth straight time.

For the sixth straight game the culprit of Concordia's downfall was the big inning, The Cobbers gave up 17 runs on the day and all came courtesy of innings where more than one run was scored. CC was only scored on during three innings in the opener and twice in the nightcap but all five frames were at least two-run specials and four featured at least three runs.

Maddie Haroldson continued to lead the Concordia offense. She had two hits in both games and went 4-for-7 on the day. She has now hit safely in six of the last eight games she has played and has at least one hit in 10 of the 14 contests she has been a part of. Haroldson upped her team-leading batting average to .415.

Kesley Jones, Becki Zimmerman and Joelle Link all had more than one hit on the day. All three came up with two-hit games during the doubleheader and were held hitless in the other game. Jones went 2-for-2 in the first game and is now hitting .309 on the year. Zimmerman upped her average to .304 as she is the final member of CC batting above .300 for the season.

Jones pitched the second game and gave up only two earned runs in five innings of work. Link went the entire way in the opener.

Concordia will stay on the road and play at Augsburg on Sunday, Apr. 18 at noon.
