Series Recap:

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (3/5/10)-- Concordia went from the frying pan and into the fire as they squared off against No.21-ranked Luther less than a week after returning home from Florida and playing top-notch NAIA opponents. The Cobbers fell 12-0 and 8-0 to the Norse in Minneapolis at the Augsburg Dome Tournament on Friday.

Both games were called after five innings due to the eight-run rule. The two losses drops the Cobbers' overall record to 2-11 on the year. Luther earns a pair of victories in their first outing of the season.

Concordia managed only two hits on the day and both came in the opener. Both hits also came in the same inning when the Cobbers tried to put together a late-game rally. Junior second baseman Nicolle Diekman came up with the first hit after there was one out in the inning. Freshman Kaia Sele then followed that up with a single to left field. After a strike out for the second out of the inning, CC then loaded the bases with a walk. Unfortunately the rally ended at that point when the next batter grounded out to the shortstop to end the inning.

Besides the two hits in the first game, freshman center fielder Joelle Link was on base both time she came to the plate after she was able to coax a pair of walks.

In the second game, the entire Cobber offensive output would come in the first inning. Emily Salo reached on an error and then Diekman got aboard after a strikeout and a passed ball. Sophomore Kesley Jones walked to load the bases with only one out but from there, the next two CC hitters struck out to end the run-scoring threat.

Concordia will stay in Minneapolis and play UW- La Crosse on Saturday, Mar. 6 at 8 a.m. in the second day of the Augsburg Dome Tournament.
