ST. PAUL, Minn. (5/13/09)-- Concordia landed four players on the MIAC fastpitch softball award list it was announced on Wednesday. Catcher Amanda Michaelson (Sr., Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS) was named to the MIAC All-Conference Team for the second straight year while junior outfielder Emily Jensen (Benson, Minn.) and freshman pitcher Kesley Jones (Billings, Mont./Billings West HS) were placed on the MIAC All-Conference Honorable Mention Team.

Senior first baseman Laura Johnson (Rochester, Minn./Rochester Mayo HS) was named the squad's representative on the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team for the second consecutive season.

Michaelson finished off her college career with her best year at the plate. She hit a career-high .364 in conference games and .327 in all games. She led the team in RBI (20) in 2009 and was third on the team in hitting. She was also second on the team in doubles (5) and triples against MIAC opponents.

In conference play she hit safely in 17 of the team's 22 games for the second straight year. In her past two seasons Michaelson had at least one hit in 34 of Concordia's 44 league games. She had five multiple-hit games and had a pair of three-hit performances during the season. Michaelson finished the conference season with a career-high .470 slugging percentage and a .400 on-base percentage.

Michaelson was also a wall behind the plate helping the Cobber pitchers to one of the best seasons in recent history. She led the league in pickoffs, was ninth in putouts with 118 and made only four errors in 130 chances.

Jensen had her best season at the plate in maroon and gold. She led the team in almost every offensive statistical category. She finished the year with a .387 average in all games and a .397 mark in conference play. Both averages are over 100 points better than her previous season best. She also had a team-best .622 slugging percentage which included a school-record seven triples and a career-best four home runs.

Jensen was among the league leaders in seven different offensive statistical categories. She was tied for the league lead in triples (4), tied for seventh in steals (8), eighth in total bases (44), 10th in slugging percentage (.647), tied for 10th in hits (27), tied for 13th in runs scored (16) and tied for 14th in batting average (.397),

Jones burst on to the college fastpitch scene and made an immediate impression. She broke the school record for strikeouts in a season and finished the year with a n impressive 152 K's. In MIAC play Jones led the league in strikeouts for the year with 103.

Jones earned seven of the team's nine wins in conference play. She finished the year with a 3.59 ERA in 19 conference appearances. Besides leading the MIAC in strikeouts she also led the league in innings pitched (109.1), batter struck out looking (26), appearances and games started (16). Jones was also fifth in wins and ninth in opponent's batting average (.269).
