CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (5/17/06)-- A pair of Cobber individuals and the 4x400-meter relay team participated in the Coe NCAA Qualifying Meet held at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on Wednesday.

Freshman thrower Preston Lyles posted the best performance at the meet for Concordia. Lyles recorded a distance of 140-07.0 in the discus. That is a collegiate career-best for Lyles and is just shy of the Concordia all-time top 10 list. The national provisionally qualifying distance is 156-6.0.

The Concordia 4x400-meter relay team ran a 3:21.56 which is the 11th fastest in program history. That time is also a season-best for the Cobbers but leaves them over seconds behind the national provisional time of 3:17.30.

Josh Smith was the only other Cobber individual to compete at the meet. He ran a 50.10 in the 400 meters.

Concordia will continue its quest to post someone at the national outdoor meet when they travel to the UW-La Crosse NCAA Qualifying Meet on Thurs., May 18 at 4:00pm.
