COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. (3/27/10)-- Concordia opened the 2010 outdoor season on Saturday at St. John's when they competed at the CSB/SJU Invitational. The Cobbers had three athletes win individual events and finished fourth out a total of 13 teams.

John Bye, Tom Sederquist and Felix Okoth came away with event wins for the Cobbers.

Bye ran 56.79 in the 400-meter hurdles to win the first extended hurdle race of the season.

Sederquist was a part of a stellar distance crew for Concordia as he clocked a 15:09.58 in the 5000 meters and won the event by almost 30 seconds. His finishing time was only .44 seconds off of his personal best. It is also the fourth fastest in program history. CC had 12 runners compete in the 5000 or 10,000 meters and eight posted personal best times.

Okoth carried over his success from the indoor season by winning the triple jump with a distance of 45-05.75. That mark is the third farthest in school history and is a personal best for Okoth.

The only other individual Cobber to finish in the top three was freshman Brad McConn who ran a 33:09.97 in the 10K and finished third. That time is a personal best and is the eighth fastest in school history.

Concordia had six other top 5 finishes at the meet which included a second-place finish from the 4x400-meter relay team of Mammen, Eric Juven, David Haugen and John Bye. The quartet ran a 3:29.47 which is faster than the best 4x400-meter relay time during the 2010 indoor season.

The Cobbers will now head west to train in Washington over the Easter holiday break. The next full team meet will be at the NDSU Bison Invite on Apr. 10 in Fargo.
