St. John's Quadrangular Meet Results

Meet Recap:

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. (2/21/09)-- On a day where the Concordia youngsters showed progress it was a senior who posted the most jaw-dropping result at the St. John's Quadrangular Meet in Collegeville.

Billy Oehlers recorded a distance of 51.01.50 in the shot put and provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division III National Meet. His mark is the 11th best in the nation this year. He also becomes the second Cobber athlete to provisionally qualify for the national meet this season.

As a team Concordia scored 113 total points and finished fourth. UM Duluth won the meet with 169 points.

The only other event winner for the Cobbers was freshman Joe Bruenjes who won the long jump with a mark of 20-09.25. The win is the first in his collegiate career. It is also the seventh best distance in the event in the MIAC this season.

Paul Westmark continued his assault in the pole vault. On Saturday he cleared 13-10.50 to move to No.12 on the Cobber All-Time list. That also ranks him in a tie for the fourth best mark in the MIAC this year. Westmark also finished third in the 600 Meters with a time of 1:25.05. He was followed closely by teammate Michael Dunn who finished fourth in a time of 1:25.32.

The quartet of Westmark, Paul Shol, David Haugen and David Beery unleashed a mark of 3:27.17 in the 1600-meter relay. That time is six seconds better than the previous season-best mark and is sixth on the Cobber all-time list.

Another highlight for CC was sophomore Tom Sederquist who finished third in the 5000 meters with a time of 15:28.86. That is the sixth best performance on the Cobber all-time list.

Concordia will compete at the St. Olaf Invite on Saturday, Feb. 28.
