Meet Results: MSU Moorhead Dual Meet Results

Meet Recap:

MOORHEAD, Minn. (2/09/08)-- Concordia used sheer numbers to down MSU Moorhead 95-89 in a dual meet on Saturday. The Cobbers won four events and posted several top five finishes on their way to downing the Dragons.

Paul Westmark, Paul Lillehaugen, Rocky Jantzen and Bill Oehlers were the even-winners for the Cobbers. Westmark ran a 1:25.58 in the 600 meters and won by almost two seconds. Lillehaugen won the 1000 meters in a time of 2:43.85, while Jantzen posted a time of 9:41.83 in the 3000 meters. Oehlers continues to improve in the shot put in his junior year. He recorded a distance of 47-6.25.

Perhaps the event of the day for the Cobbers came from a second-place finish in the 60-meter dash. Xavier Carroll ran a 7.28 and lost by a 1/10th of a second. That time set a school record in the event. Coincidentally, he broke the old mark of 7.29 set by Joe Dauner in 1999 by 1/10th of a second.

The other top performance of the day was turned in by senior Josh Smith. Smith finished second in the 400 meters in a time of 51.59. That time is the seventh fastest in school history.

The lone relay win for the Cobbers came in the 4x400-meter race. The quartet of Smith, Dusten Olejnicak, Paul Westmark and Michael Dunn ran a 3:27.13 and won by over four seconds.

Concordia will compete in the Bison Classic on Saturday, Feb. 16 at 10 a.m.
