Meet Recap:

FARGO, N.D. (2/02/08)-- The season of Olejnicak continues for Concordia.

Senior Dusten Olejnicak, who was named the MIAC Co-Field Athlete of the Week last week for posting a mark of 22-0.75, did that performance one better by jumping 22-1.50 at the Bison Open on Saturday. He finished second in the event - the top Cobber finish at the meet. Olejnicak's distance is the top mark in the MIAC this season and a personal best. It is also the farthest by a CC athlete in an indoor season since John Andan jumped 22-6.00 in 2001. The CC indoor record is 23-6.00 held by Micah Benson in 2000.

Olejnicak continues to creep closer to the NCAA provisional qualifying distance of 22-10.0.

Josh Smith is starting to approach last season's indoor form when he won the 600-yard run at the MIAC Championship Meet. Smith ran a 1:25.43 and finished fifth in the 600 meters at the Bison Open. That time is faster than his best time of 1:26.12 from last season. He was the only other Concordia athlete to post a top five finish at the meet.

Other top performers at the meet included sprinter Xavier Carroll and field athlete Billy Oehlers. Carroll ran a 7.30 in the 60-meter dash and finished ninth. That time is a personal best and only 1/10th of a second off the school record time of 7.29 set by Joe Dauner in 1999.

Oehlers finished sixth in the shot put with a mark of 47-08.50. That is a season-best for Oehlers and is currently the fourth best mark in the MIAC this season.

Concordia will head south to Collegeville to compete in the St. John's Alumni Meet on Saturday, Feb. 9 starting at 11 a.m.
