(2/23/07)-- While the rest of the team was in New York enjoying an eastern start to their spring break, a select few Cobber men's track and field athletes stayed at home to relish the scenery that the beautiful city of Fargo, N.D. has to offer. Concordia took a select group of athletes to compete in the Dakota Duals on Friday at NDSU. There were a few highlights for Concordia at the meet including junior Dustin Weege in the 800 meters. Weege ran a 2:05.76 which bettered his previous season best by over 20 seconds. His time is the third fastest run by any Cobber in the event this season. Freshman Chas Mathers ran a 2:47.29 in the 1000 meters to record his season best and the second fastest mile by any CC runner this year. Fellow freshman Nick Meseck improved on his season best in the high jump by clearing 6-1.00. That mark is one inch better than his previous best and is the third best jump in the conference this year. Billy Oehlers also primed for the conference meet by posting his best mark of the year in the shot put. Oehlers recorded a distance of 46-07.50 which beat his previous best of 46-04.25. That mark is the sixth best in the MIAC. The Cobbers will compete in the conference meet on Mar. 2-3 at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn.
