Concordia is now 2-3 overall. St. Mary's falls to 5-4 overall and 1-3 in conference play. The three doubles teams set the tone for the Cobbers as they all picked up wins in convincing fashion. The #1 doubles team of Jordy Kamerling and William Wischer ran their record to 4-1 by taking an 8-6 decision from Tony Miller and Brian Robinson. The tandems of Ryan Smith and Kevin Goihl and Paul Tuchscherer and Eric Torres followed suit by earning 8-5 and 8-6 victories respectively. In singles play, Kamerling continued to prove why he is the #1 player on the team as he ground out a superset victory over Stevenson. Kamerling is now 2-3 on the year but has won two straight matches. Paul Tuchscherer, playing in only his third match since returning from an injury, ran his record to a perfect 3-0 in singles competition as he beat Adam Solseth 6-4, 6-2 at #4 singles. Ryan Smith grabbed a 6-1, 7-6 win at #3 singles and Kevin Goihl rounded out the victory by winning 7-5, 6-2 at the #6 singles. Concordia will host St. Olaf on Saturday, Mar. 18 at 6:00pm at Courts Plus in Fargo, N.D. |
