Match Recap

FARGO, N.D. (3/21/10)-- Concordia loves home cooking. On Sunday the Cobbers cruised past St. Mary's 8-1 to remain unbeaten at home in 2010. CC is now 3-0 in matches played in the F-M area. The win over the Cardinals evens their overall record to 6-6 on the year as well as drawing them to .500 in league play at 2-2.

Concordia started the match by winning two of the three doubles matches. The big win for the Cobbers came at No.2 doubles where the team of Chad Smith and Jordan Swanson won handily with an 8-1 decision. Smith and Swanson have now won four straight doubles matches and improved to 6-3 on the season. They are tied in doubles wins with the tandem of Brian Olson and Devin Larson who put up an 8-5 win at No.3 doubles to also move to 6-3.

The Cobbers claimed all six singles matches on their way to the overpowering win. CC won four of the six matches in straight sets and had to eek out a pair of super-set wins. Olson, Larson upped their team-best win total to seven as they won in straight sets at the No.4 and No.6 spots. Both players are now 7-5 on the year. They are joined by CC No.1 singles player Matt Edin who won 4-6, 6-2, 10-7 to pick up his seventh win of the year. Edin is now 7-4 on the season but has needed to go to a super-set tiebreaker in each of his last two victories.

Concordia will have a three-week break before returning to action on Apr. 10 when they host St. Olaf at noon.
