(4/18/09)-- The match started with Concordia winning two out of the three doubles bouts and finished with Matt Edin winning his sixth straight singles match for the Cobbers as CC posted a 6-3 win over St. Mary's in Fargo, N.D. on Saturday. The win is a complete turnaround from last season when Concordia got beat 8-1 by the Cardinals. This year's victory is the fourth in the last five matches for Concordia and brings their season win total to six. CC is now at the .500 level as they are 6-6 overall and 2-4 in conference play. St. Mary's loses for the third time in the past four matches. They are still seeking their first win in the MIAC season. They are now 0-6 in the league and 4-8 in all matches. Edin teamed with Querby Johnson to post the most lopsided doubles win for the Cobbers. The No.1 doubles tandem cruised to an 8-1 win and is now 6-5 on the season and has won four straight matches. Chad Smith and Jordan Swanson then claimed an 8-5 win at the No.2 doubles spot to give CC a 2-1 lead heading into singles play. In singles, Edin left little doubt about his sixth straight win as he powered his way to a 6-2, 6-0 win at No.1 singles. Edin is now 8-2 on the season and 5-1 against MIAC opponents. Smith and Johnson also posted singles wins as the top three Cobber singles players all earned wins. Johnson had his most dominant match of the year, posting a 6-1, 6-1 win at No.3 singles. Justin LaBeaux earned the final singles win for Concordia. He recorded a 3-6, 6-1, 10-3 win at No.5 singles to pick up his second conference win of the year. Concordia will get little rest as they host regionally ranked Carleton on Sunday at 1 p.m.
