(2/01/09)-- Concordia won all nine matches against Northwestern on Saturday in Fridley and cruised to a 9-0 win to post their first dual-match win of the season. The victory also snaps a seven-match away losing streak for CC. One week after the Cobbers dropped a pair of matches on the opening day of the season, Concordia used the experience to leave little doubt against the Eagles. CC dropped only six games in the entire six individual matches. Concordia's No.1 singles player Matt Edin recorded his second win of the season as he "double bageled" his opponent in the first singles match. Edin also claimed a n 8-3 at No.1 doubles play. Jordan Swanson also won by blanking his opponent in singles. For Swanson it was his first win of the year. A trio of freshmen all won their first collegiate matches. Chad Smith, Justin LeBeaux and Bryn Homuth all picked up their milestone victories. The Cobbers will open up conference play when they host Gustavus on Saturday, Feb. 14 at 5 p.m. and then St. Thomas on Sunday, Feb. 15 at 8:30 a.m. Both matches will be played at Courts Plus in Fargo.
