(4/13/08)-- You'll have to forgive Concordia head coach Troy Hanestad if he wants to schedule all his matches at home in 2009. The reason for Hanestad to want to turn into a home body next season is that the Cobbers have established a dominant presence at home in 2008. On Sunday CC continued to roll at home as they cruised to an 8-1 over Hamline in their first outdoor home match of the year. The win gives Concordia a 5-1 record at home in 2008. It is also the second straight conference victory for CC who improve to 8-10 overall and 2-6 in conference play. The Cobbers jumped on the Pipers from the opening serve as they won all three doubles matches and then backed that up with victories in five of the six singles bouts. Leading the way for CC was senior Wills Wischer who teamed with Kirby Johnson to earn an 8-1 win at No.1 doubles. Wischer then went on to claim his 10th singles victory of the year as he hung to record a 6-1, 6-7 (4-7), 10-5 win at No.1 singles. Wischer is now 10-6 on the year. It is the first time in his career that he has recorded a double-digit singles wins total. Johnson went on to grab a 6-3, 6-0 win at No.3 singles. After dropping six straight singles matches, Johnson has now won his past two matches. The other Cobber singles wins for the Cobbers were posted by Matt Edin, Peter Zender and Arnie Andeasen. Edin evened his conference singles record at 4-4. He leads the team in singles win in MIAC play this year. Like Johnson, Andreasen put the skids on a six-match losing skid by picking up his second straight singles win. Concordia will finish off the 2008 campaign by playing at Carleton on Sunday, April 20 at 2 p.m.
