Match Recap:

ORLANDO, Fla. (2/25/08)-- Concordia head coach Troy Hanestad will have to remember not to schedule any more matches for a Monday morning. Less than 24 hours after opening their Florida trip with a tidy 6-3 win, Concordia lost 8-1 to NCAA Division I opponent Mount St. Mary's (Md.).

Despite the lopsided score, the Cobbers had a chance to make the final outcome a lot closer as they dropped two of the three doubles matches at the wire. The No.2 doubles team of Kirby Johnson and Jordan Swanson had their opponents down 7-5 and needed just one more game to claim the win. Johnson and Swanson wound up going to a tie-breaker and lost 9-8 (7-1). The No.1 tandem of Wills Wischer and Matt Edin also fell at the end as they lost 8-6.

Wischer turned around and recorded the only win of the morning for the Cobbers. He dropped the first set in his No.1 singles match but was then awarded the victory after his opponent had to retire after the first game of the second set. For Wischer it was his team-leading fifth win of the year. He is now 5-2 at No.1 singles and has won two straight matches in Florida.

Johnson came the closest of any CC player in singles play. He lost 6-4, 7-5 at No.3 singles but was up 5-2 in the second set.

The Cobbers will have a day off before returning to action when they play Emory & Henry (Va.) on Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 1 p.m.
