ST. PAUL, Minn. (4/17/06)-- Concordia senior Blake Trenbeath (Cavalier, N.D.) was named the MIAC Player of the Week as announced by the MIAC league office on Monday.

Trenbeath earns the honor for his sparkling performance against St. Olaf on Saturday. It is the second time in his career that Trenbeath has been named the MIAC Pitcher of the Week. He earned the award last season on May 1 for his efforts against the Oles as well.

Trenbeath was 1-0 with a victory against then league-leading St. Olaf in his only start of the week. Trenbeath’s complete-game, four-hitter helped Concordia beat the Oles 5-2 and maintain pace in the race for a conference playoff spot.

Against St. Olaf, Trenbeath struck out a season-high nine batters, allowed just a single earned run and did not give up a single extra-base hit as he outdueled Ole ace Eric Tobias who was unbeaten on the year entering the game. Besides the third inning when St. Olaf scored both of their runs, Trenbeath only allowed one batter past second base.

The win moves his season win total to four and lowers his ERA to 2.52.
