MOORHEAD, Minn. (3/23/09)-- Concordia senior pitcher Scott Schumacher was named the MIAC Pitcher of the Week it was announced by the MIAC league office on Monday.

Schumacher threw a complete-game one-hitter against SUNY-New Paltz on Thursday, Mar. 19. In the seven innings Schumacher struck out five and did not allow an extra-base hit in the Cobbers' 9-1 win over the Hawks. It is the first time in his career that he has pitched a complete-game one-hitter.

In Schumacher's first start of the season he faced 25 batters, four over the minimum. He induced eight fly outs and earned five ground outs in the game. Schumacher also went 1-for-4 at the plate in the Cobbers' eight-run win.
