Adam Johnson was named the MIAC Pitcher of the Week for his three-hit shutout over Gustavus on Friday.
Johnson is Pitcher of the Week!

MOORHEAD, Minn. (4/13/09)-- Concordia junior pitcher Adam Johnson (Pelican Rapids, Minn.) was named the MIAC Pitcher of the Week it was announced by the MIAC league office on Monday. Johnson threw a three-hit shutout at Gustavus and helped the Cobbers post a sweep over the Gusties for the first time since the 2004 season.

For Johnson it is the second time in  his career that he has earned MIAC Pitcher of the Year honors. He won the award last season on Apr. 7 for shutting out Carleton and only giving up two hits. Johnson becomes the second Cobber hurler to win the award this season. Scott Schumacher won the honor on Mar. 23 for his complete-game one-hitter against SUNY-New Paltz.

Johnson (Pelican Rapids, Minn.) threw a three-hit, complete-game shutout over previously unbeaten Gustavus on Friday. In addition to being the first twin-killing for the Cobbers over the Gusties since 2004, it was also the first sweep for the Cobbers at Gustavus since 1993.

Johnson allowed just three hits, all singles, did not allow a base runner past second base and only allowed one runner to reach second in shutting down the Gustie offense. It was the first shutout of the season for Gustavus and the first time in 29 games they have been held scoreless.

Johnson also struck out six batters and faced only four batters above the minimum in the seven-inning complete game. He also did not allow a left-handed hitter to get a hit as they went 0-for-9 against Johnson.
