MOORHEAD, Minn. (5/28/07)--Concordia junior catcher Kyle Johnson (Cambridge, Minn./Cambridge-Isanti HS) and sophomore pitcher Adam Johnson

(Pelican Rapids, Minn.) were named to the ABCA/Rawlings All-Midwest Region Team it was announced on Wednesday. Kyle Johnson earned second team honors while Adam Johnson was placed on  the third team. It is the first All-Region selection for both players.

The awards cap the season for both Johnson and Johnson who were named to the MIAC All-Conference First team earlier in the month and earned MIAC Player of the Week honors on Apr. 7.

Kyle Johnson led the team in hitting for the second straight season with a career-high .450 average. During the season he set a school record by hitting safely in 20 consecutive games. He led the team in hitting, slugging percentage (.725), on-base percentage (.496), runs scored (36), hits (49), RBI’s (37), doubles (13), home runs (5) and total bases (79).

 

Johnson led the MIAC in hitting with a .507 average in conference games. He also led the MIAC in slugging percentage (.881), RBI's (24), home runs (5) and total bases (59).

Adam Johnson led the team in ERA (2.43) and was tied for the team lead in wins (5). He appeared in 10 games in 2008 and made a team-high seven starts on the year. He was credited with the win in the Cobbers' upset victory over NCAA Division I NDSU on Apr. 29. Johnson was 3-1 in MIAC play and gave up only five earned runs in 20.1 innings of work.

Johnson was second in the MIAC in ERA in conference games (2.21) and led the conference in opponent's batting average (.151).
