ST. PAUL, Minn. (5/13/07)--Three Concordia baseball players were all named to the MIAC All-Conference Team it was announced by the conference office on Tuesday. Junior catcher Kyle Johnson (Cambridge, Minn./Cambridge-Isanti HS) and pitchers Adam Johnson (So., Pelican Rapids, Minn.) and Scott Schumacher (Jr., Thompson, N.D.) all received all-conference recognition. Kyle Johnson was also named to the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team.

It is the second straight season that Kyle Johnson has earned MIAC All-Conference honors while Adam Johnson and Schumacher received postseason recognition for the first time in their careers.

Johnson led the team in hitting for the second straight season with a career-high .450 average. During the season he set a school record by hitting safely in 20 consecutive games. He led the MIAC in hitting with a .507 average in conference games. He also led the MIAC in slugging percentage (.881), RBI's (24), home runs (5) and total bases (59).

In all games he led the team in hitting, slugging percentage (.725), on-base percentage (.496), runs scored (36), hits (49), RBI’s (37), doubles (13), home runs (5) and total bases (79).

Johnson was named the MIAC Player of the Week on Apr. 7.

Adam Johnson was second in the MIAC in ERA in conference games (2.21) and led the conference in opponent's batting average (.151). Johnson led the team in ERA (2.43) and was tied for the team lead in wins (5) with Schumacher. He appeared in 10 games in 2008 and made a team-high seven starts on the year. He was credited with the win in the Cobbers' upset victory over NCAA Division I NDSU on Apr. 29. Johnson was 3-1 in MIAC play and gave up only five earned runs in 20.1 innings of work.

He was named the named the MIAC Pitcher of the Week on Apr. 7.

Schumacher also had a team-high five wins on the season and also tied with Adam Johnson for most victories in conference play (3). He finished the year with a 2.88 ERA in overall games and a 3.47 mark in conference games. Schumacher only allowed 11 walks in 34.1 innings pitched and did not allow a home run on the season. Opposing hitters were only able to scratch out a .276 average in his six appearances on the year.

Schumacher was also the team's starting first baseman. He finished the season with a .402 average in all games and a .379 mark in conference games. He was second on the team in hits (33), RBI's (22) and was third in on-base percentage (.435) and total bases (39).

Schumacher was named the MIAC Pitcher of the Week on Mar. 24.
