ST. PAUL, Minn. (5/14/07)--Concordia sophomore catcher Kyle Johnson (Cambridge, Minn./Cambridge-Isanti HS) and senior outfielder Brian Knoblauch (St. Cloud, Minn./Cathedral HS) were awarded MIAC postseason honors it was announced by the conference office on Monday.

Johnson was named to the MIAC All-Conference Team while Knoblauch earned All-Conference Honorable Mention honors. It is the first time for both players to receive postseason honors.

Johnson led the team in hitting with a .360 in overall games. He also led the team during conference play with a .352 average in the team's 20 league games. Johnson started every conference game for the Cobbers in 2007. He finished with 19 hits in 54 at-bats and had three doubles and two home runs. He posted a .519 slugging percentage and a .453 on-base average. He led the team in on-base percentage and walks in the MIAC. Johnson was tied for fifth in the MIAC in walks during conference play.

Johnson also excelled defensively where he had to handle the youngest pitching staff in the league. He threw out seven of the 18 base runners that tried to steal during the year. His seven putouts on attempted stolen bases were tied for second in the MIAC.

Knoblauch, the team's starting right fielder, played in 18 league games and finished second in hitting with a .340 average. He led the team in slugging percentage (.600) and tied for the team lead in doubles (5) and home runs (2).

He was named the MIAC Player of the Week on Apr. 23 for batting .500 over six league games and helping the Cobbers post their first league sweep of the season.
