ADMITTANCE TO THE FACILITY:
Athlete and Coaches Passes will be in you team packet to be picked immediately upon your arrival to the competition.
Bus or team van parking should be in the parking lot located north of the stadium. The lot is located between the stadium and the dorms and dining service facilities at the Grant Center. The lot must be accessed by turning east off of 8th Street at the 12th Avenue stop light. The parking lot entrance is immediately to the south.
TEAM AREAS AND CAMPS:
Team camps can be established in the bleachers on the North and South sides of the track or in the grassy areas outside of the track. Camp areas will not be allowed on the football or soccer fields.
The stadium locker rooms can be used for changing and showering. We would encourage athletes staying in the neighboring Concordia dorms to change and shower in the dorms.
THE INFIELD OF THE COMPETITION TRACK WILL BE KEPT CLEARED OF NON-COMPETING ATHLETES, COACHES AND SPECTATORS AFTER COMPETITION BEGINS.
There is bleacher seating in the grandstands located on both the north and south sides of Jake Christiansen Stadium. This will accommodate all parents and other interested spectators. There will be smaller bleachers at the various field event venues to accommodate coaches and fans. Coaches will be allowed to sit or stand anywhere outside of the competition oval.
Certified and Student Trainers will be on duty at the east end of the track in the stadium locker room building. All injury care will be handled in this area. Bring own supplies. Bring signed statement on college letterhead for treatment modalities. Modalities will be administered in Memorial Auditorium training room. Please allow time to walk between the facilities. Attached is a letter from Stephanie Brandt, head trainer at Concordia, with details about the athletic training arrangements.
Irv Christenson Track at Jake Christiansen Stadium and the immediate surrounding areas will be able to accommodate all warm-ups. Should there be inclimate weather the 200 meter track located in the Olson Forum will be available for warm-ups.
Athletes competing in Field Events may warm up at their respective competition sites. They should report one (1) hour before their scheduled competition.
LIGHTNING / SEVERE WEATHER POLICY:
Competition will be delayed until 30 minutes after the last lightning strike or thunder. In the case of severe weather the meet shall be postponed until 30 minutes after the severe weather warning has expired. If there is a weather delay coaches will meet in the Computer room of the Grant Center to discuss the status of the meet. Stephanie Brandt, head trainer at Concordia, will be responsible for the calls on matters of this nature.
CLERKING AREA AND HIP NUMBERS:
The Clerking Area and Hip Number distribution will be done at the southwest corner of the track at the beginning of the sprint straight away. Two Hip Numbers will be given to each athlete who competes on the track. Only the anchors of each relay team will need Hip Numbers. Please wear the Hip Numbers squarely on the side of the uniform shorts/briefs and NOT on the skin.
Our Mondo surface allows 1/4” PYRAMID Spikes to be used for ALL Track and Field Events. No pin spikes will be allowed-checked at the clerking area.
ABSOLUTELY NO PIN SPIKES OF ANY LENGTH OR MAKE.
Results will be posted in timely manner. Results will be posted at the top of the south grandstand, just beneath the press box and near the press box entrance.
Protests relating to matters that develop during the conduct of the meet should be made at once and not later than thirty (30) minutes after a final result has been officially announced and/or posted. Official posting times will be listed in the top right corner of the results. Any protest must be made in writing by a coach and submitted to the appropriate referee who will render a decision. The referee’s decision may be appealed to the jury of appeals.
2003 OUTDOOR JURIES OF APPEALS:

Implement weigh-in will be in the stadium equipment room located in the stadium locker rooms. Implement weigh-in will begin two (2) hours prior to the competitions (11:00am Friday, 8:30am Saturday). Implements will be impounded until one (1) hour prior to the start of the events.
POLE VAULT POLE STORAGE:
There is a lack of interior storage space at the stadium for pole vault poles. Any team wishing to store poles may do so in the connecting hallway of the dorm/cafeteria area of the Grant Center. This is located within meters of the outdoor track just across a parking lot.
COMPETITION AREAS: FIELD EVENTS, HORIZONTAL JUMPS:
The long jump and triple jump runways are separate and run east-west. The surface is Mondo; long jump runway measuring 150’ in length and the triple jump runway measuring 166’ in length.
The Long Jump Board Take Off Unit is approximately 12’ from the nearest edge of the pit. Takeoff units are in-set white wooden boards brown wooden strips for fouls. The Triple Jump Board Take Off Units are 36’ and 28’ from the nearest edge of the pit.
The Shot Put, Discus, and Hammer will be competed at three (3) separate venues with concrete circles and appropriate cages.
The Javelin Throw will be competed from a 150’ Mondo runway located on a practice field adjacent to the stadium. The runway allows the javelin to be thrown only to the south/southwest. If winds are not favorable for throwing to the south/southwest, we will throw off grass on the practice field, in which case up to 1” spikes will be allowed.
The High Jump has a Mondo pad which measures 30 meters x 27 meters and allows for the high jump to be contested in any direction.
The Pole Vault has a 150’ east-west Mondo runway and a 140’ north-south Mondo runway and allows the pole vault to be contested in any direction.
Opening heights for the High Jump and Pole Vault will be determined the week of the championship by the committee assigned at the 1998 MIAC Championships-Martin Peper-Macalester, Kyle Cleven-St.Thomas and Garrick Larson-Concordia.
The 400 meter Mondo track is eight (8) 42” lanes for all race.
The protocol for ALL track races are covered in the 2003 MIAC Track & Field Book and/or the NCAA rule book.
Finals: A reminder since we are 8 lanes that only 24 will qualify in the 100, 200, 400, 110H and 400H. Also that finals will be 8 competitors in all events.
Coaches should be prepared to turn in a Relay Card listing all of their Relay Personnel for the 4 x 100 Meter Relay prelims and 4 X 800 Meter Relay on Friday and the 4 x 100 Meter Relay finals and 4 X 400 Meter Relays on Saturday.
