Level 6: Swimming & Skill Proficiency

The purpose of these courses is to refine the strokes so students swim with ease, effciency, power and  fluidity over greater distances.  A student must pass Level 5 prior to taking any of the Level 6 options. There are four Level 6 options, each with the exact same swimming skills and additional special skills.  Exit skill for all options: 
1) Swim 500 yards continuosly as follows: 100 yards front crawl, 100 yards back crawl, 50 yards breaststroke, 50 yards elementary backstroke, 50 yards sidestroke,  25 yards butterfly, and 125 yards choice.

 

 


Level 6: Personal Water Safety

Cost: $50 (10-day sessions); $45 (9-day session)
50 minute lessons

The focus of this course is to develp proficient strokes and safety in the water.  Additional exit skills:
1) Jump in, survival float for 5 minutes. 
2) Perform a feet-first surface dive, retrieve a brick in 7 - 9 feet of water, then swim to the side of the pool.

Level 6: Lifeguard Readiness

Cost: $50 (10-day session); $45 (9-day session)
50 minute lessons

 

The purpose of this course is to develop skills in preparation for the Lifeguard Training course.  Additional exit skill:  Swim 20 yards approach stroke, surface dive and retrieve brick, then swim 20 yards on back or side with face out of the water holding the brick with two hands.

Session 4  7/21  -  8/1: 5:00 p.m 

 


Level 6 : Fundamentals of Diving

Cost: $50 (10-day session); $45 (9-day session)
50 minute lessons

 

The purpose of this course is to develop beginning springboard diving skills.  Additional exit skills:
1) Forward 3-step approach and hurdle with a tuck jump 
2) Forward 3-step approach, hurdle and forward dive in pike or tuck position.

Session 2 6/23 - 7/3: 4:00 p.m
Session 5 8/4 - 8/15: 5:00 p.m.

 


Level 6 : Fitness Swimming

Cost: $50
50 minute lessons

 

The purpose of this course is to develop endurance through swimming greater distances.  Additional exit skill: 
1) Perform the Cooper 12 minute test and compare results with the test results from the first day of class.

 

Session 3  7/7 - 7/18: 7:00 p.m.
Session 4  7/21 - 8/1:  3:00 p.m.
