Lifeguard/Aide
Job Description
As an aide/lifeguard in our program, you will be expected to aide swimming lessons and lifeguard for swimming lessons according to the American Red Cross aquatics guidelines. An understanding of the learn-to-swim program and its levels and strict adherence to all guidelines of this program are essential for our program to run smoothly and consistently.
Your duties as an aide include:
- Assisting the instructor with every skill at each level.
- Assisting the instructor with testing your students.
- Demonstrating skills in the water for your classes.
- Interacting and communicating with the students and their parents as necessary throughout the session.
- Answering any questions the public may have about our program.
- Helping other instructors as necessary.
- Reporting any problems to the Aquatic Director as soon as possible.
Your duties as a lifeguard include:
- Lifeguarding for the entire time students are in the water. Positioning yourself in the shallow end.
- Walking through the locker room to check for unsafe conditions or misbehavior.
- Handling first aid situations as needed.
Your benefits as an aide/lifeguard include:
- Starting wage of $6.50/hour with a $.25 increase each year.
- A swimsuit to wear as your uniform.
- A staff t-shirt to wear when on duty.
