Baseball

- Concordia earned their first conference playoff berth since 2005 by sweeping St. Mary's on Thursday. The Cobbers finished in a tie for second place in the MIAC standings and will be the No.2 seed in the upcoming conference tournament. CC will play No.3-seed St. John's on Friday, May 14 at 3:30 p.m. at Sechler Park in Northfield. Fans can follow along with live audio and a live blog. MIAC Tourney Details


Baseball (23-15/14-6 MIAC - swept St. Mary's 5-3 & 4-1/

split with Bethel L 2-4/W 2-0)

- Concordia earned their first conference playoff berth since 2005 by sweeping St. Mary's on Thursday. The Cobbers finished in a tie for second place in the MIAC standings and will be the No.2 seed in the upcoming conference tournament. - Cobber senior shortstop Jake Krause (Moorhead, Minn.) finished the regular season by going 4-for-8 in Concordia's split with Bethel. Krause leads the team with 16 multiple-hit games this year and is second on the team in hitting with a .400 average. Last year Krause hit .228 and had only seven multiple-hit games.

- Senior Adam Johnson (Pelican Rapids, Minn.) won his last three three starts oof the regular season. During that time he also helped out with his bat. In the team's final 12 games, Johnson hit .324 and had three home runs and had a slugging percentage of .706.

Men's Tennis (7-10/3-6 MIAC)

- Concordia junior Matt Edin (Staples, Minn./Staples-Motley HS) was named tp the MIAC All-Conference Team in singles play for the third straight year. Edin, Concordia's No.1 singles player, compiled a 10-6 record in 2010. He also went 6-3 in conference play as the team's top singles player and was tied for second in victories among the No.1 singles players in the league.

- Kirby Johnson (Sr., Crookston, Minn.) earned All-Conference honors in doubles play for the second time in the last three years. Johnson teamed with Edin as the team's No.1 doubles tandem and went 4-5 in conference matches. They were also 7-9 in their 16 overall matches.

Men's Track & Field (competed at the MIAC Decathlon/

competed at the Meet of the Saints)

- For the second straight year Concordia finished with four athletes in the top 10 of the MIAC decathlon. The Cobbers finished the 2010 competition by coming away with a second place finish to go along with third, fourth and seventh place finishes. The Cobbers were led by senior Marly Simmons (Detroit Lakes, Minn.) who finished second with a total of 5,771 points. The runner-up finish for Simmons is his best finish in a conference multi-event. Last year Simmons was fourth in the event with a total of 5,927 points.

- Junior Giles Henry (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech HS) finished second in the discus at the Meet of the Saints at St. John's on Saturday with a national provisional qualifying distance of 154-06.00. That mark is four inches better than the NCAA provisional standard of 154-02.00. It is also the fourth farthest discus toss in school history and best mark in nine years. Henry also finished fourth in the shot put with a mark of 43-06.50.


Women's Track & Field (competed at the MIAC Heptathlon)

- Concordia senior All-American Leah Kay (Dassel, Minn./Dassel-Cokato HS) closed out her conference multi-even career by placing third in the MIAC heptathlon on Friday. Kay led a contingent of Cobber athletes that had three top 5 finishes and placed four athletes in the top 9 of the competition. Kay finished with a total of 4,391 points for the seven events. That total is 51 points shy of her national provisional qualifying score of 4,442 points which she posted at the Drake Relays. However, it is still better than the national provisional qualifying mark of 4,100 points. It is also shy of her second-place total of 4,489 points at last year's conference heptathlon meet.

- Fellow Cobber senior Tara Ray (Darby, Mont./Darby HS) finished fourth at the MIAC Heptathlon and posted a national qualifying score of 4,249 points. Her fourth-place finish is a career-best in a heptathlon event. Her final point total ranks her eighth in the nation. She had season-best marks in the shot put, 200 meters and 800 meters. Her best scoring event was in the 100-meter hurdles where she scored 750 points with a time of 15.71. Her best overall event was the 200 meters where she broke off a career-best time of 27.05.


Men's Golf - End of Season

- Former Concordia men's golfer, and four-time All-MIAC performer, Drew Dvorak will start his quest to qualify for the US Open on Monday, May 17 when he tees off in the US Open Local Qualifying Tournament at Hazeltine at 8:20 a.m. Fans can follow along through all 18 holes with the live Twitter blog.
