Women's Track & Field
- Concordia senior Leah Kay (Dassel, Minn./Dassel-Cokato HS) provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division III national Meet in the heptathlon at the Drake Relays last weekend. Kay finished with a total of 4,442 points which was 342 more than the 4,100 points needed to qualify. She currently has the fourth best score in Division III this year.
Baseball (19-12/10-4 MIAC - split at Carleton W 7-5/L 4-5/
split with St. Olaf W 5-2/L 5-15/swept Gustavus 11-4 & 3-2)
- Concordia swept Gustavus 11-4 and 3-2 on Tuesday to pick up their 10th MIAC win of the season. The Cobbers are currently 10-4 in league play and tied with defending national champion St. Thomas for first place in the MIAC. It marks the 10th time in the last 12 years that CC has won at least 10 conference games in a season.
- Concordia broke the school record for stolen bases in a single season by a team last week. The Cobbers now have 77 stolen bases on the year and lead the MIAC in that category by a full 20 steals. Last year Concordia only had 21 steals the entire season.
- Cobber senior outfielder Nick Lewis (Fergus Falls, Minn.) had at least one hit in all six games last week and has now successfully reached base in 20 straight games. That ties the school record for most consecutive games with at least one hit. Former All-American Kyle Johnson had a 20-game streak in 2008.
Fastpitch Softball (11-28/8-14 MIAC - swept by St. Mary's 3-10 & 4-12/
split with Hamline W 6-5/L 4-7/swept Macalester 6-5 & 14-6)
- Concordia finishes their season by winning three of their final four games of the year. The Cobbers also went 6-5 in their final 11 games.
- Concordia freshman Kaia Sele (Bemidji, Minn.) finished the year by getting at least one hit in the final 10 games of the year. During those 10 games Sele hit .514 and had three doubles, a triple and two home runs. She also had a .538 on-base percentage and an .811 slugging percentage. Sele finished her first year by hitting .347 and leading the team in home runs and RBI.
Men's Tennis (6-10/2-6 MIAC - lost at St. John's 4-5/lost at Bethel 4-5/
lost at Carleton 0-9)
- Concordia freshman Devin Larson (Baxter, Minn./Brainerd HS) earned his team-leading 10th singles win of the year in the Cobbers' 5-4 loss at Bethel on Saturday. Larson is now 10-6 on the year and 7-3 in his last 10 singles matches.
- Larson teamed with fellow freshman Brian Olson (West Fargo, N.D.) to pick up doubles wins in two of the three matches last week. Playing at the the No.3 doubles spot, Larson and Olson lead the team with eight doubles wins and are 8-5 on the year.
Women's Tennis (7-9/3-6 MIAC - lost at St. Ben's 1-8/won at Bethel 5-4/

- Cobber junior Melanie Gail (Madison, Minn./Lac Qui Parle Valley HS) earned her team-leading eighth singles win of the year on Friday in the team's 5-4 win over Bethel. Gail is 8-7 on the year and has 27 career singles wins.

Concordia had athletes participate in four different track and field meets last week.
- Cobber junior Tom Sederquist (Moorhead, Minn.) competed in the All-American 10K at Hamline last week. Sederquist ran a 31:17.16 and posted the third fastest time in school history in the event. Sederquist finished fourth in the race and was only 7.16 seconds off the national provisional qualifying mark. It is also the third best in the MIAC this year.
- The Concordia 4x200-meter relay team clocked a 1:29.85 at the Drake Relays. That time is the second fastest in school history and is the fastest since 1980. The school record is 1:29.27 set back in 1980.
Women's Track & Field (competed at the Jamestown Invite)

- The Cobber 4x200-meter relay team of Alexa Kleingartner (Jr., West Fargo, N.D.) Ruth Ranum (Jr., Circle Pines, Minn./Centennial HS), Kari Ludwig (Fr., Osakis, Minn.) and Kristin Slette (Sr., Moorhead, Minn.) ran a 1:47.19 at the Drake Relays. That mark is the second fastest in program history and fastest since 2004.
Men's Golf (finished 2nd at the SJU Spring Invite)
- Concordia finished second at the St. John's Spring Invitational this past weekend. The Cobbers shot a three-round total of 882 and beat regional opponents UW-Eau Claire, St. Thomas and Gustavus. The Cobbers will now wait until Sunday, May 2 to see if they will receive an at-large bid to the NCAA DIII Tournament.
- Cobber freshman Pat Deitz (Moorhead, Minn.) once again led the way for the Cobbers. Deitz led the CC third-round charge as he blistered his way to a 69 in the final round. That score tied for the lowest single-round total of the tournament. Deitz finished with a three-over-par score of 217 and was tied for fourth place.
- CC junior Zach Kappes (Moorhead, Minn.) posted his most consistent tournament of the year as he shot three scores in the low 70's and finished one shot back of Deitz at 218. His 73-73-72 tournament scoring was good for sixth place - his top finish in a three-round tournament in his collegiate career. |
