Men's Golf
- Concordia opened the spring portion of its 2009-10 schedule by winning the University of South Dakota Invite on Tuesday at the Bluffs Golf Course in Vermillion, S.D. The Cobbers, buoyed by an opening round teams score of 294, finished at 613 and beat NCAA Division I opponent USD by 11 strokes. Cobber freshman Pat Deitz (Moorhead, Minn.) carded a 150 (75-75) and finished in second place. He was part of the Concordia crew that placed four golfers in the top 8 and six in the top 15.
Baseball (11-6/2-0 MIAC - lost at Univ. of Minnesota 4-2/
swept Hamline 9-4 & 16-5/beat UM-Morris 17-1/beat Valley City 22-12)
- The Cobbers are 11-6 overall this season and have won four straight games. The 11 wins in the first 17 games marks the fastest to the 11-win mark since the 1995 season when Concordia started the year 11-0 and went on to win the MIAC Championship.
- Concordia has scored 64 runs in their last four games (16.0 rpg average). During the Cobber's four-game winning streak the team has cranked out 75 hits and has outscored their opponents 64-22. CC is also hitting a robust .500 during that stretch.
- Cobber junior second baseman Dan Wackler (Buffalo, Minn.) has gone 5-for-5 in two of the past three games. Wackler had five hit games against Hamline and Valley City State. The last Cobber player to have five hits in a game was Nick Lewis (Sr., Fergus Falls, Minn.) and that came back in 2008. Wackler, a career .264 hitter, is hitting .435 this season and has hit safely in the last six games.
Fastpitch Softball (3-14/0-0 MIAC) - Did Not Play
- Concordia had their MIAC opener postponed on Tuesday, Apr. 6 due to poor weather conditions. The Cobbers will now open conference play on Wednesday, Apr. 7 at Bethel at 4 p.m. CC will then return home for their home opener on Thursday, Apr. 8 at 4 p.m. against St. Ben's.
Men's Tennis (6-6/2-2 MIAC) - Did Not Play
- Concordia will return to action on Apr. 10 when they host St. Olaf at noon in their first outdoor home match of the season.
Women's Tennis (5-5/2-2 MIAC) - Did Not Play
- Concordia will return to action on Apr. 10 when they host St. Olaf at noon in their first outdoor home match of the season.
Men's Track & Field (finished 4th at the Puget Sound Invite)

Concordia competed in the Shotwell Invitational held at Puget Sound University in Tacoma, Wash. over the Easter break. The Cobbers finished fourth out of a total of 12 teams and had six top 5 individual finishes at the meet and 12 top 10 finishes.
- John Bye (Fr., Moorhead, Minn.) and Tom Sederquist (Jr., Moorhead, Minn.) led the Cobber contingent at the Shotwell Invite. Both athletes posted a pair of top 6 finishes. Bye finished fourth in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 57.68 and was fifth in the 110-meter hurdles with a mark of 16.36. Sederquist, the team's premiere distance runner, moved to shorter distances at the meet and finished third in the 1500 meters (4:04.00) and was sixth in the 800 meters (2:03.92). His time in the 1500 meters was the fastest by a CC athlete since the 2005 season.
Women's Track & Field (finished 7th at the Puget Sound Invite)
- Concordia took a smaller squad to participate in the Shotwell Invitational held at Puget Sound University in Tacoma, Wash. over the Easter break. The Cobbers finished seventh at the meet. CC had six top 5 individual finishes and 16 top 10 finishes.
- For the second straight outdoor meet the Cobber field athletes posted the top finishes for the team. Concordia posted three top 10 finishes in both the shot put and discus. Larissa Hansmeier (Jr., Bristol, S.D./Webster HS) and Kierstin Nygaard (Jr., Scandia, Minn./Forest Lake HS) both had top finishes in both events. Hansmeier was sixth in the shot put (35-03.75) and ninth in the discus (100-07.00). Nygaard was fourth in the discus (112-01.00) and ninth in the shot put (34-04.00).

Andrew Whitchurch (Fr., Litchfield, Minn.) and Ty Champ (So., Champlin, Minn./Meadow Creek Christian HS) were the other two members of the team that finished in the top 5. Whitchurch opened the tourney with a meet-best 73 but then came back with a 79 in the final day and finished in third place. Champ shot a 154 and finished in fifth place.
