Wrestling
- Concordia finished off their most successful NCAA National Meet in 32 years by earning one individual national championship title, garnering three All-American honors and finishing in ninth place as a team. Cobber junior Phil Moenkedick (Perham, Minn.) won the national title at 184 while Justin Berns (Jr., Perham, Minn.) finished in seventh place at 149 and Ross Dankers (Jr., Cambridge, Minn.) was eighth at 174 to earn All-American honors. Concordia's ninth-place finish ties for the best team finish at an NCAA Meet in program history. The 1978 Cobber team also finished in ninth place.
Men's Basketball (13-12/9-11 MIAC - 7th Place)
- Concordia juniors John Fraase (Bismarck, N.D./Century HS) and Darrin Olmscheid (Buffalo, Minn.) earned MIAC postseason honors it was announced by the league office last week. Fraase was named to the MIAC All-Conference Team for the second consecutive season and Olmscheid earned MIAC All-Conference Honorable Mention honors. Fraase became the only sixth in league history to average at least 10 points and 10 rebounds in back-to-back seasons.

Women's Basketball (18-8/17-5 MIAC - 3rd Place)
- Concordia had all five starters earn MIAC postseason honors it was announced by the league office last. Erica Nord (Jr., Wolverton, Minn./Barnesville HS) and Maggie Bauernfeind (Jr., Rosemount, Minn.) were named to the MIAC All-Conference Team while Lindsey Schultz (Jr., Hitterdal, Minn./Ulen-Hitterdal HS) and Sars Sorbo (Sr., Adams, N.D./Adams-Edmore HS) received All-Conference Honorable Mention honors and Anna Matetich (Sr., Hibbing, Minn.) was the team's representative on the MIAC All-Sportsmanship Team.

- Concordia sophomore scoring sensation Katelyn Dold (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech HS) was named to the MIAC All-Conference Team and four other Cobber players earned conference postseason awards. Dold was joined by freshman Macy Leland (Brooklyn Park/Park Center HS) as well Emily Sell (Jr., Williston, N.D.), Kayla Thorson (Sr., Rugby, N.D./Minot HS) and Kaylee Black (Barrie, Ontario/York University) to earn MIAC awards. Leland, Sell and Thorson were all placed on the MIAC All-Conference Honorable Mention Team and Black was the team's representative on the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team. Leland was also named to the MIAC All-Rookie Team.

Men's Track & Field (finished 8th at the MIAC Indoor Championship Meet)
- Concordia finished in eighth place at the recently-completed MIAC Indoor Championship Meet at Carleton. The highlight of the meet for the Cobbers came from the 4x200-meter relay team of John Bye (Fr., Moorhead, Minn.), Luke Hvidston (Jr., Fargo, N.D./Oak Grove HS), Tommy Mammen (So., Worthington, Minn.), and Jason Sather (Jr., Plymouth, Minn./Armstrong HS) who clocked a 1:32.04 and broke eight-year -old school record set back of 1:32.29. The Cobbers finished in fourth place in the event.
- The record-setting relay was just one of the many top performances for Mammen who has recently become one of the top sprinters in the conference. Mammen finished in the top 10 in the two sprints at the meet and posted top 7 all-time school marks in the process. He ran a 6.72 in the finals of the 55-meter dash and finished sixth. Mammen's best time in the event came in the preliminary heats where he posted a 6.67. That time is a personal best and ties for the sixth fastest in school history. In the 200 meters, Mammen sped to a 23.09 and was in 10th place. That time is the third fastest time in program history.
- Dan Thorson (So., Cokato, Minn./Dassel-Cokato HS) and Andrew Overson (Jr., Waconia, Min.) earned a spot in Cobber field lore at the MIAC Meet. The two both finished in the top 10 in the event at the meet which marks the first time that Concordia has had two athletes finish in the top 10 of the pole at a conference meet since 1996 when Ryan Williams and Dan Buchholz accomplished the feat at the MIAC Outdoor Meet.
Women's Track & Field (finished 8th at the MIAC Indoor Meet)
- Concordia finished in eighth place at the MIAC Indoor Championship Meet which finished on Saturday at Carleton. The Cobbers were led by multi-sport athletes Leah Kay (Sr., Dassel, Minn./Dassel-Cokato HS) and Tara Ray (Sr., Darby, Mont.) who posted a pair of national provisional qualifying marks in the pentathlon and finished third and fourth in the event. Kay recorded a school-record total of 3,345 points, breaking her own school mark she set last year. Ray put a cap on her outstanding indoor season by finishing fourth and collecting a personal-best score of 3,036. That mark is the fourth best in school history.
In the main part of the conference meet, Kay and Ray also produced top 8 finishes in a pair of other events. Kay cleared the bar at 5-02.50 in the high jump and finished in second place. Spurred on by her top 5 finish in the pentathlon, Ray went out and ran a personal best time of 9.14 in the 55-meter hurdles and finished in eighth place.
- Cobber sophomore Tatijana MullerDahlberg (Fargo, N.D./Oak Grove HS) claimed the runner-up position in the triple jump at the MIAC Meet. The top conference triple jumper heading into the meet, MullerDahlberg was beaten in the very last jump of the event. She owned the top distance heading into the final round and then watched as the competitor immediately in front of her topped her best distance of 36-02.75.
- Concordia senior Leah Kay (Sr., Dassel, Minn./Dassel-Cokato HS) is the only Cobber athlete to earn an invitation to the NCAA National Indoor Meet at DePauw University in Greencastle, Ind. this weekend. Kay's school-record total of 3,345 points in the MIAC pentathlon is the fifth best mark in the nation and she will be one of 17 athletes entered in the event at the national meet. Kay has earned four All-American awards in her career and will be looking for her second straight All-American honor in the pentathlon at the national meet.

- Cobber junior Phil Moenkedick (Jr., Perham, Minn.) became the first Concordia wrestler to win a national championship in 32 years when he claimed the NCAA Division III title at 184 on Saturday. The last Cobber national champion was Barry Bennett who accomplished the feat in 1978. He is also the first CC athlete to win a national championship since 2006 when Annie Cullen won the 1-meter diving title.
- Concordia had three athletes earn All-American honors which is a program record for a single season. Joining Moenkedick as top 8 finishers in their weight class were
Justin Berns (Jr., Perham, Minn.) who finished in seventh place at 149 and Ross Dankers (Jr., Cambridge, Minn.) who was eighth at 174. Both wrestlers earned All-American honors for the first time in their career.
- As a team Concordia finished in ninth place with 31.5 points at the NCAA National Meet. It ties the 1978 squad for highest finish at the NCAA Meet in program history. The Cobbers also set the school record for most dual-meet wins in a single season and were ranked in the top 15 of the nation the entire season.
Baseball (2-2/0-0 MIAC - swept Elmhurst 6-3 & 2-0/
swept by Edgewood 5-4 & 12-4)
- Concordia opened the 2010 season by playing four games in the Metrodome last weekend. The Cobbers swept Elmhurst (Ill.) on Friday and were then swept by Edgewood (Wis.) on Saturday. The four games are part of a 13-game stretch that Concordia will play in the Metrodome before the start of outdoor baseball. The indoor season will finish off with a game against the University of Minnesota on Mar. 31.
- The Cobbers received a pair of outstanding starting pitching performances on Friday. Chris Fellows (Sr., Ortonville, Minn.) pitched a complete game in the season opener and allowed only five hits while striking out seven batters. Eddie Massee (Appleton, Minn./Lac Qui Parle Valley HS) then backed up that performance with a six-inning, no run, four hit masterpiece of his own.
- Junior third baseman Michael Carlson (Sartell, Minn.) led the team in hitting in their four-game series at the Dome. Carlson hit .500 in all eight games. He had a triple and was also 3-for-3 in stolen bases.
Fastpitch Softball (2-13/0-0 MIAC - swept by Luther 0-8 & 0-12/
swept by UW-La Crosse 0-11 & 3-15)
- Concordia lost four games at the Augsburg Dome Tournament last weekend. Both of the Cobber opponents on the weekend were national-caliber teams. Luther is currently ranked 21st in the nation and UW-La Crosse earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament last season.
- The Cobbers were led in hitting at the Agsburg tournament by freshman first baseman Kaia Sele (Bemidji, Minn.). Sele hit a stellar .556 in the four games and was 5-for-9 on the weekend. She was also 1-for-1 in stolen bases. Sele is currently third on the team in hitting in 2010 with a .250 average.
Men's Tennis (4-6/0-2 MIAC - lost to Gustavus 8-1)
- Concordia lost to national perennial power Gustavus 8-1 in St. Peter last Saturday. The lone Cobber point was scored by the No.2 doubles team of Chad Smith (So., Grand Forks, N.D.) and Jordan Swanson (Jr., Thief River Falls, Minn./Lincoln HS). The tandem claimed an 8-6 win to earn the first point against the Gusties for a CC team since the 2006 season.
- Concordia will host their first MIAC conference match of the season when they square off against Hamline on Saturday at 5 p.m.
Women's Tennis (2-5/0-2 MIAC - lost to St. Thomas 8-1/
lost to Gustavus 9-0)
- Concordia dropped their first two conference matches of the season against league powers St. Thomas and Gustavus last weekend. The lone Cobber point of the weekend was earned by junior Melanie Gail (Madison, Minn./Lac Qui Parle Valley HS). Gail posted a 6-3, 3-6, 10-7 victory at No.4 singles against the Tommies.
- Concordia will host their first MIAC conference match of the season when they square off against Hamline on Saturday at 5 p.m.
