Women's Hockey
- Concordia freshman women’s hockey player Ali Nelson (Maple Grove, Minn.) scored the game-winning goal in the Cobbers’ 3-2 overtime win against Concordia University (Wis.) on Friday. It was Nelson’s first collegiate goal in only her second game on the ice for Concordia. Nelson joined the team in December after helping the Cobber women’s soccer team reach the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. Nelson was the team’s starting goalie and earned All-Region and All-Conference honors.
Men's Basketball (8-5/4-4 MIAC - beat Macalester 76-54/
lost at St. John's 74-61)
- Concordia is unbeaten at home in 2009-10. The Cobbers are 5-0 in the friendly confines of Memorial Auditorium, including 3-0 in MIAC play. CC is 1-4 on the road in conference games
- Cobber junior Darrin Olmscheid (Buffalo, Minn.) has scored in double figures in six consecutive games and in eight of the past nine. He currently leads the team in scoring with a 14.2 points per game average and is sixth in the MIAC in scoring in conference games.
Women's Basketball (8-4/7-2 MIAC - lost to Macalester 75-57/
beat St. Ben's 68-56/won at St. Kate's 62-50)
- The Cobbers have now won six of their last seven games and are currently tied for third place in the MIAC standings - only one game out of first place. Concordia handed league-leading St. Ben's its first conference loss of the year on Saturday as CC posted a 68-56 win over the Blazers.
- Concordia junior women’s basketball player Erica Nord (Wolverton, Minn./Barnesville HS) is currently in the top five in the conference in scoring, assists and steals in league games. Nord is tied for fourth in scoring with a 15.4 points per game average. She is also fourth in assists and is tied for the league lead in steals. Nord is averaging 3.63 assists and 3.13 steals in the Cobbers’ first eight league games. Nord scored a game-high 15 points in helping Concordia beat league-leading St. Ben’s on Saturday.
Men's Hockey (3-10-2/2-2-2 MIAC - lost to #4 St. Norbert 4-1/lost to UW-Stevens 7-1)
- Concordia finished off the non-conference schedule for the 2009-10 season last weekend. The Cobbers has had one of the toughest non-conference schedules in the country. Of Concordia’s seven non-conference opponents this season, five have been ranked in the top 15 of the country or have also received votes in the national poll.
- Concordia sophomore forward Nick Thielen (Moorhead, Minn.) finished the 2009 portion of the season by being ranked fourth in the MIAC in scoring in overall games. Thielen currently leads the team in scoring with six goals and nine assists for 15 points.
Women's Hockey (5-6-0/2-4-0 MIAC - lost at St. Mary's 2-0 & 4-3)

- Sophomore forward Katelyn Dold (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech HS) had a pair of assists in the Cobbers' weekend series sweep over Concordia Univ. (Wis.). Dold now has five goals and 11 assists on the year and is in second place in the conference in total points. She currently leads the MIAC in assists.
W. Swimming & Diving (lost at St. Ben's 231-66)
- Concordia senior diver Lauren Trudeau (Stillwater, Minn./Chisago Lakes HS) started the 2010 calendar year like she finished off 2009. Trudeau posted a score of 212.35 in the 1-meter diving event in the Cobbers' dual meet with St. Ben's and came away with the only event win for CC in the meet. Trudeau has won every single 1-meter event she has entered this season.
- Stacie Fossum (Minnetonka, Minn.) continued her outstanding senior season by picking up a pair of top three finishes in the dual meet against the Blazers. Fossum finished third in the 100-yard breaststroke and 200-yard backstroke. She recorded a mark of 1:15.68 in the breaststroke and finished the backstroke in a time of 2:32.36.
Wrestling (11-4 - Finished 6th at the National Duals Meet)
National Ranking - 9th in the latest Brute/Adidas National Poll
- Concordia finished in sixth place out of a total of 16 teams at the NWCA/Cliff Keen Natioanl Dual Tournament this past weekend. The Cobbers beat #16 Cornell and #20 Johnson & Wales on Saturday but fell to No.3-ranked Coe in the quarterfinals. CC then beat #11 St. John's in the first match on Sunday before losing to No.1-ranked UW-La Crosse 26-17 in the fifth-place match. Concordia is now 11-4 in dual meets this season. The 11 dual-meet wins ties the program record for wins in a season with the 1984-85 team.
- The Cobbers were led by junior Ben Anderson (Frazee, Minn.) at the National Duals. He posted a perfect 5-0 record at 141. Anderson, who entered the meet ranked fourth in the nation, scored five decisions in the meet. He posted one of the team's two victories against No.3-ranked Coe. His biggest win came in the opening round when he posted a 3-1 decision over No.7-ranked Kevin Donahue of Cornell. Anderson is now 22-3 on the year and leads the team in victories.
- Concordia has four wrestlers ranked in the top 10 of the nation in the latest Brute /Adidas National rankings. It is the most top 10 wrestlers at one time in program history. Ben Anderson is currently fourth at 149. Daron Hohbein (So., Mandan, N.D.) is ranked sixth at 125 while Justin Berns (Jr., Perham, Minn.) is ninth at 149 and Phil Moenkedick (Jr., Perham, Minn.) is fourth at 184.
