Women's Soccer
- The Concordia-Moorhead women’s soccer team had a pair of players earn ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American honors. Juniors Sam Johnson (Fargo, N.D./Fargo North HS) and Erika Swenson (Fargo, N.D./Fargo North HS) received the prestigious award last week. Johnson carries a 3.64 grade point average while majoring in Math Education while Swenson has a 3.98 GPA and is majoring in Healthcare Management and Classical Studies. The two were the only women’s players from the MIAC to earn Academic All-American honors and Concordia was one of only three schools in the entire nation to have multiple Academic All-Americans.

National Ranking - 8th in the latest NSCAA National Poll

- The Concordia-Moorhead women’s soccer team had a pair of players earn ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American honors. Juniors Sam Johnson (Fargo, N.D./Fargo North HS) and Erika Swenson (Fargo, N.D./Fargo North HS) received the prestigious award last week. - Concordia advanced to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 for the first time in program history. The Cobbers beat Dubuque (Iowa) 2-0 in the first round of the national playoffs and then downed Macalester 3-1 in the second round. It is the first two wins in NCAA Tournament history for the team.

Men's Basketball (3-0 - beat St. Scholastica 79-48/

beat MSU Moorhead 54-53)

- Concordia beat MSU Moorhead 54-53 on Tuesday. It was 11 years to the date that the Cobbers had downed the Dragons and snapped a nine-game losing streak against MSU M. The Cobbers are now 3-0 on the year marking the first time since the 2003-04 campaign that the Cobbers have opened with three consecutive victories

- The Cobbers team beat St. Scholastica 79-48 to win their home opener on Saturday. In the win over the Saints, Concordia made 13, 3-point baskets and finished by shooting 59.1% from behind the arc.


Women's Basketball (1-2 - beat St. Scholastica 90-51/

lost to UW-Stevens Point 67-65/lost to MSU Moorhead 89-54)

- Concordia started the 2009-10 season by posting a 90-51 win over St. Scholastica at the UW-Stevens Point Tipoff Tournament. The 39-point margin of victory breaks the school record for largest win in a season opener.

- Cobbers junior guard Maggie Bauernfeind (Rosemount, Minn.) averaged 22.5 points in the team’s first two games at the Pointer Tipoff Classic and was named to the All-Tournament Team. She had 22 points in the team's season-opening win against St. Scholastica and then followed that up with 24 points against nationally ranked UW-Stevens Point.


Men's Hockey (2-5-2/1-1-2 MIAC - tied St. Olaf 3-3 & 1-1/

beat Northland 9-3)

- Concordia freshman goalie Jacob Vatnsdal (Roseau, Minn.) stopped 68 shots last weekend and helped the Cobbers post a pair of ties against defending MIAC champion St. Olaf.

- The Cobbers beat Northland College 9-3 on Monday to win their second game of the season. CC sophomore Nick Thielen (Moorhead, Minn.) had two goals and three assists. He now leads the team with five goals and nine assists for 14 points on the year.


Women's Hockey (4-3-0/1-1-0 MIAC) - beat St. Olaf 5-4 & lost 2-1)

- Cobber junior forward Emily Sell (Williston, N.D.) had a pair of goals in Concordia's split with St. Olaf last weekend. Sell now has seven goals and three assists for 10 points. She currently leads the MIAC in scoring.

- Despite splitting with the Oles, the Cobbers won the annual Iron Ore Cup. The rivalry trophy goes to the winner of the series between Concordia and St. Olaf. Since this year's series finished in a split, the two teams settled possession for the cup by having a shootout.


W. Swimming & Diving - beat Hamline 156-81 & swam in Mac Invite)

- Concordia picked up their first dual meet win of the season when they downed Hamline 156-81 on Friday. In the meet, the Cobbers won eight of the 13 events.

- The Cobbers competed in the Macalester Invite on Saturday and finished second for the third consecutive season. Concordia senior diver Lauren Trudeau (Stillwater, Minn.) set a meet record at the Macalester Invite when she posted a score of 225.80 in the 1-meter diving event and won the competition by 20.40 points.


Wrestling (6-0 - beat Ridgewater 38-3/hosted the Cobber Open)

- No.8-ranked Concordia beat Ridgewater 38-3 on Friday to win their sixth straight dual match to start the season. Against the Warriors won nine of the 10 individual matches. The Cobbers have now only dropped three individual matches in their last four team dual meets. During that time the Cobbers have compiled a 37-3 record.

- Cobber junior Phil Moenkedick (Perham, Minn.) went 3-0 at the Cobber Open and captured the championship at 184. It is his third straight Cobber Open individual weight class championship. Moenkedick, who is currently ranked #1 in the nation at 184, is 11-0 on the season and has won five matches by pin fall.
