Women's Soccer
- Concordia earned one of the 21 at-large bids into the NCAA Tournament it was announced on Monday. The Cobbers will be making their third NCAA Tournament appearance in the last four years. Concordia is 16-0-2 on the year and one of only four teams in the country that are still unbeaten on the year. CC will face the University of Dubuque on Saturday, Nov. 14 at 5 p.m. at Macalester College. Ticket prices for all games are $6 for adults and $3 for students and senior citizens. All games will feature live video.


Football (5-4/3-4 MIAC - beat Carleton 31-16)
- The Concordia-Moorhead football team beat Carleton 31-16 on Saturday to win their third straight game. The Cobber defense picked off their 11th pass of the season on Saturday. Concordia has intercepted at least one pass in three consecutive games.

- Concordia senior punter David Williamson (Deer Lodge, Mont.) had one of his best career games last Saturday in the team’s 31-16 win at Carleton. Williamson had four punts in the game and averaged 42.0 yards per punt. He had two kicks downed inside the 20-yard line. In the fourth quarter he came up with a 41-yard punt that was downed at the 1-yard line and then came up with his best punt of the day, a 48-yarder that was downed on the 23-yard line. For his big game against the Knights, Williamson was a finalist for MIAC Special Teams Player of the Week.

- Cobber junior defensive back Zach Debeltz (Anoka, Minn.) is having a breakout season. After having 42 total tackles and one interception in 2008, Debeltz leads the team with 66 tackles this season and has six interceptions. He has led the team in tackles the last two games and is currently 12th in the MIAC in tackles and tied for the lead in interceptions in overall games. His six interceptions is tied for seventh best on the all-time single season list at Concordia.


Volleyball (14-10/6-5 MIAC - lost at St. Ben's 3-1 - MIAC Semifinals)

- Concordia lost to No.1-seeded St. Ben's 3-1 in the MIAC semifinals last Thursday. The Cobbers unfortunately did not receive an at-large berth into the NCAA Tournament which ended their six-year streak of playing in the national tournament.

National Ranking - 8th in the latest NSCAA National Poll

- Concordia junior Sam Johnson (Fargo, N.D./Fargo North HS) posted a career scoring year. Johnson leads the team with 21 goals and three assists for 45 points. She has scored at least one goal in the past 11 games and has four multiple-goal games during that period. She is currently 19th in the nation in goals per game.

- The Cobbers rank 20th in goals against average in the nation and freshman goalie Ali Nelson (Fr., Maple Grove, Minn.) is 17th in goals against average. Nelson has conceded eight goals in 17 games and has a GAA of 0.47.


Men's Cross Country  (finished 11th at MIAC Championship Meet)
- Concordia will finish the 2009 season when they compete at the NCAA Regional Meet at Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa on Saturday, Nov. 14 at 11 a.m.

Men's Basketball (0-0)

- Concordia opened the 2009-10 season by squaring off against NCAA Division I foe NDSU in an exhibition game. CC only trailed the Bison by a single point at halftime but ended up losing 82-62. Darrin Olmscheid (Jr., Buffalo, Minn.) led CC with 16 points and five rebounds.  NDSU won the Summit League postseason tournament last year and narrowly lost to Kansas in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

- Concordia will open the season in earnest on Monday, Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. when they play at UM-Morris.

2009-10 Concordia Men's Basketball Season Preview


Men's Hockey (0-4-0 - lost to UW-Superior 7-2/lost to St. Scholastica 4-3)

- Concordia sophomore Jared Collen (Penticton, B.C.) scored two goals in the Cobbers' 4-3 loss to St. Scholastica on Saturday. He scored the game-tying goal in the second period that brought the score to 2-2. He then added the team's final goal.

- Concordia will open MIAC play this weekend when they host St. Mary's on Friday and Saturday. The Cobbers will square off against the Cardinals on Friday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. at the Moorhead Sports Center.


Women's Hockey (2-1-0 - beat Marian 8-1 & 6-4/lost to UW-Stvns Pt. 2-0)

- Cobber junior forward Emily Sell (Williston, N.D.) scored four goals in the Cobbers first three games of the year. Sell had two goals in the team’s 8-1 season-opening win over Marian (Wis.) on Friday. She backed that up with two more goals in Saturday’s 6-4 win over the Sabres.

- Concordia will host their home opener this weekend when they square off against UW-Superior on Friday and Saturday. Both games will be on the north rink at the Moorhead Sports Center. Game times are 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 13 and 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14.


Wrestling (4-0 - went 4-0 at the Lakeland Duals)

- No.8-ranked Concordia opened the 2009-10 season by posting a perfect 4-0 record at the Lakeland (Wis.) Duals on Saturday. The Cobbers cruised past Trine (Mich.), Wabash, UW-Eau Claire and host Lakeland in recording their four wins. On the day CC lost only five individual matches, recorded 11 wins by a pin and did not have a single wrestler pinned in the 40 matches.

- Cobber junior Phil Moenkedick (Perham, Minn.) is currently ranked No.1 in the nation at 184. He started his season by going 4-0 at the Lakeland Duals and won two by pins.
