Men's Outdoor Track and Field

- Concordia junior Paul Westmark (Appleton, Wis.) won the MIAC decathlon held at Carleton last weekend. He finished with a final total of 6,010 points which provisionally qualified him for the NCAA National Meet. He becomes the fifth Cobber athlete to win the MIAC decathlon since 1997.

Baseball (16-14/8-10 MIAC; lost to St. Thomas 7-2 & 9-3/beat Augsburg 7-4 & 10-7)

- Concordia swept Augsburg on Tuesday to push their overall record to 16-14 on the season. It marks the 16th time in the past 18 years that the Cobbers have won at least 16 games on the season.

- Concordia sophomore Brady Harms (Hawley, Minn.) hit his second home run of the season against St. Thomas on Monday. Last year Harms played in only 12 games all season and had only one hit. This year he is hitting .339 and has a .492 slugging percentage. He is one of three Cobbers with at least two homers on the year. Kyle Johnson (Jr., Cambridge, Minn./Cambridge-Isanti HS) hit his team-leading fifth HR of the year yesterday. The only other player with two home runs this year is Nick Lewis (So., Fergus Falls, Minn.). Concordia has hit 11 HR’s this season and is fifth in the MIAC in that category.

- Concordia has outscored its opponents 39-16 in the fourth inning of games this season. It is the best inning for the Cobbers as far as runs scored and run differential.

Fastpitch Softball (9-28/7-15 MIAC; swept St. Ben's 7-5 & 5-3)

- Concordia catcher Amanda Michaelson (Jr. Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS) finished the season by hitting in 12 consecutive games. That streak helped her raise her season batting average to .323. It is the first time in the history of her career, at any level of softball, that she has hit over .300 for an entire season.

- Concordia hit at least one home run in eight of their last 10 doubleheaders. The Cobbers finished the year with 19 HR’s and were ranked fourth in that category in the MIAC.

- Cobber senior second baseman Amanda Johnson (Grey Eagle, Minn./Long Prairie-Grey Eagle HS) hit four home runs on the year and finished her career with 11 long balls. That is one shy of the school record of 12 set by Heidi Mueller from 1996-99.

Concordia has hit four home runs in each of their past two doubleheaders. The Cobbers hit four against Valley City State on Tuesday and a quartet  in their series against St. Olaf last week. They have now hit at least one round-tripper in eight of their last nine doubleheaders. The Cobbers have hit 13 homers in MIAC play and are tied for second in that statistical category.

- Concordia freshman Matt Edin (Staples, Minn./Staples-Motley HS) was named to the MIAC All-Conference Team. He competed as the team’s No.2 singles player and went 4-5 in conference play. He was 9-9 overall in singles matches this year.

- The Cobber No.1 singles team of Wills Wischer (Sr., Grand Forks, N.D./Red River HS) and Kirby Johnson (So., Crookston, Minn.) was named to the MIAC All-Conference Team in the doubles category. The pair had a 4-4 mark in the MIAC and a 6-4 overall record.

Women's Tennis (5-12/1-9 MIAC; lost at Carleton 6-3)

- Concordia junior Mollie Miller (Litchfield, Minn.) was named to the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team. Miller was second on the team in singles wins this season with five.

Men's Outdoor Track and Field (competed at the Ron Masanz Invite at MSU M)

- The Cobber 4x400-meter relay team of Westmark, Dusten Olejnicak (Sr., Brainerd, Minn.), Michael Dunn (Fr., Fargo, N.D./Oak Grove HS) and Josh Smith (Sr., Staples, Minn./Staples-Motley HS) ran a 3:20.38 at the Ron Masanz Invite hosted by MSU Moorhead on Saturday. That time is the third fastest in the conference this season and fifth fastest in school history.

- Concordia sophomore Xavier Carroll (El Cajon, Calif./Grossmont HS) ran a pair of sub 11-second 100 meters at the Ron Masanz Invite. His fastest time was 10.96. That time is the second fastest in school history and he is currently ranked fourth in the MIAC this year.

Women's Outdoor Track and Field (competed at the Ron Masanz Invite at MSU M)

- Concordia sophomore Leah Kay (Dassel, Minn./Dassel-Cokato HS) won the MIAC heptathlon held at Carleton and was named the MIAC Field Athlete of the Week for her performance. She finished with a final total of 4,550 points which provisionally qualified her for the NCAA DIII Meet. That score is the second best in school history and fifth highest total in the nation this year.

- Sarah Sorvaag (Sr., Argusville, N.D./Northern Cass HS) finished fifth in the hammer throw at the Ron Masanz Invite hosted by MSU Moorhead on Saturday. Sorvaag’s best mark of the day was 148-02 which is the third best in the MIAC this year and less than three feet shy of provisionally qualifying for nationals.
