Game Stats - Now Online! St. Paul, Minn.-- Concordia scored two goals in the first 14 minutes of the game and cruised to a 3-0 victory over Hamline in St. Paul on Wednesday. The win is the Cobbers' seventh consecutive victory which sets a program record for most consecutive wins. Concordia remains perfect in league play, upping their conference mark to 4-0-0. The Cobbers are now 7-1-0. Hamline has their two-game winning string snapped and falls to 4-3-0 on the year. The Pipers slide to 1-2-0 in conference play. Like Saturday's game against St. Olaf, the Cobbers struck quickly on a goal from wing midfielder Amy Ravenhorst. Ravenhorst knocked home a cross from a corner kick at 8:08 to give Concordia a 1-0 lead. Against the Oles, Ravenhorst notched the first goal of the game at the 3:39 mark. Kelly Ping served the ball on the corner and picked up her eighth assist in eight games. She currently ranks fourth in the nation in assists per game. Ping then added a goal to her assist when she took a through ball from Morgan Bain and beat Hamline goalie Andrea Eilertson. The goal, at 13:24, was Ping's team-leading ninth of the season. She has tallied a goal in five of the team's first eight games. Bain then answered Ping's goal by hammering a shot into the top corner of the net from just outside the penalty box just before the break. For Bain, it was her seventh goal of the year and 18th point of the season. She now has 94 points in her career and needs only six more to become only the third Cobber women's player in the history of the program to reach the 100-point plateau. The Cobbers outshot Hamline 14-1 in the opening 45 minutes of play and held a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks. The Cobbers were blanked in the rest of the game by Eilertson. She made four saves in the second half and finished with eight for the game. Concordia goalie Britt Reiersgord continues to give the Cobbers a formidable presence in goal. She made a tremendous diving save in the first half and then slammed the door shut in the second period to earn her second consecutive shutout and fourth of the season. She has only allowed one goal in the last four games. For the game, Concordia held a 22-3 edge in total shots and a 11-2 advantage in shots on goal. The Cobbers finished with six corners, while the Pipers had two. Concordia returns home to face regionally-ranked St. Mary's on Saturday, Oct. 1 at noon. The game will be a part of the annual Homecoming festivities at the college. |
