St. Ben's Game Stats - Now Online!

MOORHEAD, Minn. -- Concordia scored early and often as they thumped St. Ben's 4-1 and clinch home field advantage in the MIAC semifinals which begin on Tuesday.

The Cobbers scored at 6:04 mark and never looked back as Concordia won for the fourth straight time. The victory also pushes the Cobbers' overall record to 14-3 which breaks a program record for most wins in a single season. Concordia finishes the conference season with a 9-2-0 mark, one win away from their record of 10 which they set last year.

The loss, the worst conference defeat for the Blazers in the past nine seasons, drops St. Ben's out of the playoffs. The Blazers needed St. Thomas to beat Augsburg in order to claim the fourth spot in the conference tournament but the Tommies and Auggies battled to a 0-0 2OT and will both advance into the tournament.

St. Ben's finishes the season with an overall record of 11-5-2 and a mark of 7-4-0 in conference play.

Concordia continued to follow their winning script by scoring early and putting pressure on the opposing team's defense from the start of the game. Morgan Bain started the Concordia spree when she netted her 15th goal of the season at 6:04.

After carrying the play to the Blazers for the rest of the half, Concordia finally upped their lead to 2-0 when Miriam Lombardozzi scored the first of her two goals in the game.

Lombardozzi added another goal just after the break at 49:10 and Rachel Lewis rounded out the Cobber scoring attack by hitting a low line drive that found the inside of the post and then the back of the net at 79:10.

Concordia's lone senior, Kelly Ping, assisted on two goals and ran her MIAC-best total to 13.

St. Ben's finally broke through the Cobber defense to get on the board in the final minute of play. Christina Lisk scored her team-leading sixth goal of the year at 89:47 to push the final score to 4-1.

The Cobbers outshot St. Ben's 24-11 in the game and held an 11-6 advantage in corner kicks.

Concordia goalie Britt Reiersgord made four saves to pick up her 14th win of the season, while Blazer goalie Amanda Broadbent made 10 saves and was saddled with her fifth loss of the year.

Concordia will make their third consecutive conference playoff appearance when they host St. Thomas on Tuesday, Nov. 1 at 2:00pm at the Jake Christiansen Athletic Complex.

Since the game is an MIAC Championship event, admission prices will be charged. Tickets are $7 for adults and $3 for students (with ID).
