St. Catherine Game Stats - Now online!

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Concordia received a goal in each half and downed St. Catherine 2-0 to clinch their third straight MIAC playoff spot.

The Cobbers are now 8-2 in league play and can finish either second or third in the conference standings, depending on the outcome of the games played on Saturday. Concordia will host St. Ben's on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 1:00pm. If the Cobbers win, they will finish second for the second consecutive season and host a conference semifinal game on Tuesday, Nov. 1 at 2:00pm.

Concordia is now 13-3 overall and ties the program record for most wins in a season. Last year the Cobbers set the mark by going 13-6-1.

St. Catherine loses for the third straight game and falls to 1-7-2 in the conference and 5-9-2 overall.

Kelly Ping scored the game-winning goal for the Cobbers with just over 15 minutes gone in the first half. For Ping it was her 12th goal of the season and team-leading 35th point.

Concordia goalie Britt Reiersgord kept the Wildcats off the board in the first half. A task that included a tremendous save midway thorugh the period. On the play, Reiersgord was able to dive backwards and tip the ball over the crossbar after a well-taken shot from 25 yards out.

The Cobbers threatened to break the game open in the first 45 minutes but hit the post twice and were unable to finish their quality chances.

Concordia finally got a little breathing room when freshman Jenny McGuiggan scored her second goal in the last three games with just under three minutes left to go in the game.
