Concordia head coach Dan Weiler was named the Region Coach of the Year and four players eanred All-Region honors.

MOORHEAD, Minn. (12/14/09)-- Concordia had four players and head coach Dan Weiler receive All-Region honors as awarded by the National Soccer Coaches Athletic Association (NSCAA). Weiler was named the NSCAA North Region Coach of the Year while Sam Johnson, Erika Swenson, Susan Obermiller and Ali Nelson earned All-Region honors.

Weiler earns Region Coach of the Year honors for the first time in his career. The award comes after Weiler was named the MIAC Coach of the Year for the third time in his career. Weiler guided the Cobbers to a perfect 16-0-1 in the regular season and then helped Concordia advance to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament and along the way won a national tournament game for the first time in program history.

Concordia juniors Sam Johnson and Erika Swenson were named to the North All-Region First Team. It marks the third consecutive year that Johnson has earned All-Region honors. It is the first time she has been placed on the All-Region First Team. Johnson was the MIAC MVP and finished the season with 22 goals and three assists for 47 points. It is the second highest point total in school history. Swenson earns All-Region honors for the first time in her career. She was the team's starting defender and helped the Cobber defense who finished the year by only allowing five goals in 11 league games - tops in the MIAC. Both Johnson and Swenson were named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-American Team earlier in the year.

Obermiller was named to the All-Region Third Team. Like Johnson, she also earns All-Region honors for the third straight season. Obermiller scored five goals and had nine assists for 19 points on the year. She had four game-winning goals on the year which was second best on the team. Obermiller was also second on the team in shots on goal.

Nelson was the team's starting goalie and played in 19 of the team's 20 games on the year. She finished the year with a  0.65 goals against average. She also broke the school record for shutouts in a season. Nelson had 10 shutouts on the year and gave up more than one goal only twice during the season.
