Men's golfer Jonathan Northard, women's soccer player Amy Ravenhorst and women's cross country runner Rachel Charpentier all earned MIAC Athlete of the Week honors.

MOORHEAD, Minn. (10/10/06)-- Three Concordia athletes were named as MIAC Athletes of the Week it was announced by the conference office on Tuesday.

Women's soccer player Amy Ravenhorst (Sr., Hollandale, Minn./Albert Lea HS), women's cross country runner Rachel Charpentier (Sr., Scandia, Minn./Forest Lake HS) and men's golfer Jonathan Northard (Grand Rapids, Minn.) all earned their sports weekly MIAC Athlete of the Week award. They join volleyball player Becca Shane (Sr., Detroit Lakes, Minn.) to give Concordia four athletes of the week award-winners in a single week. That is the most Cobber athletes in a single week to earn the conference honor.

It is the second time that Ravenhorst has won MIAC Player of the Week honors in her career and first for both Charpentier and Northard.

Ravenhorst tallied two goals in Concordia's 3-0 win over Bethel on Saturday. Her goal in the 11th minute proved to be the game-winner. She was also part of the Cobber defense that shutout the Royals. The shutout was the seventh straight in conference play for the Cobbers. The streak has now reached 650 minutes which is a new program record. Ravenhorst is currently second on the team in scoring with three goals and two assists.

Charpentier was the first MIAC finisher at the St. Olaf Pre-Region Invitational in Northfield, Minn. on Saturday. Charpentier placed fourth overall with a 6K time of 23:41. Charpentier has been the Cobbers' No. 1 runner in three meets.

Northard tied for third at the prestigious Twin Cities Classic this past weekend. He was the highest conference finisher at the meet. Northard fired a 71 on Saturday at Elk River CC, then shot another 71 at North Fork in Ramsey on Sunday and finished the tournament with a 85 at Hazeltine National on Monday. It is the highest finish for Northard this season.
