LAST TIME THE TWO MET: The last time these two teams met was on opening weekend in 2002. In that game, Jamestown broke a 2-2 half time tie with the only goal of the second half and hung on to win 3-2. The win was the first for the Jimmies over the Cobbers in the history of the series.
Jamestown broke out to a 2-0 lead in the game before the Cobbers rallied to score a pair of goals in the second half of the first period. After the Jimmies went ahead at 22:46, Concordia’s Jessica Uecker countered with a goal just 40 seconds later to bring Concordia within one goal. The Cobbers equalized the game at the 43:54 mark when Annie Cullen scored to tie the game at 2-2. The lone goal of the second half came with less than six minutes left in the game. Amy Ganser scored her second goal of the game at 84:36 to secure the win for the Jimmies.
Concordia held a 14-9 advantage in shots and a 7-4 edge in corner kicks. Cobber goalie Kathy Braun made five saves, while Jamestown’s Sara Lauer stopped six shots to pick up the win.
SERIES HISTORY: Concordia won the first three games of the series. The Cobbers took the initial game of the series back in 1996. In that game, Concordia scored early and often on its way to an 8-0 victory. The second meeting took place in Moorhead as well and the Cobbers pulled out a 5-3 decision. The 1998 game was the closest of the series as the two teams battled into overtime before Concordia pulled out a 2-1 win. That was the only game of the series played in Jamestown...Concordia is 2-0-0 at home against the Jimmies.

(What you need to know about today’s Concordia-Jamestown match-up)
- For the second straight season, Concordia has once again attained the lofty status of being regionally ranked. In the latest NSCAA Central Region Poll that was released on Tuesday, the Cobbers checked in at number 10. That equals last year’s trek into the top 10 when the Cobbers finished the season ranked 10th.
- After dropping the opening game of the year, the Cobbers have rattled off four straight victories. Concordia has outscored its opponents 16-4 during that stretch. The Cobbers lead the MIAC in goals in conference games and are second in goals per game in overall games.
- With the two conference-opening wins against St. Thomas and Gustavus, Concordia has now won eight straight regular season conference matches. That consecutive conference win streak is the most in the history of the program.
- Today’s game is one of three non-conference games left for Concordia. After today, the only games outside the MIAC for the Cobbers will take place in California. Concordia travels to Cali at the end of October to take on California Lutheran and Chapman. Chapman is currently 3-2-1 and ranked sixth in the West region poll, while the Regals are 1-2-2 and unranked.
- Concordia senior forward Kelly Ping has scored at least one point in each of the past four Concordia games. She has 15 points on the season which ties her total point output from last season. Ping is currently tied for the lead in the MIAC in points per game in overall games (3.00). She is also second in assists and tied for third in goals per game.
- Jamestown enters today’s game having won its past two games and five of the past six. The Jimmies started the season 0-2-1 but have since rattled off five wins and now stand at 5-3-1.
- The Jimmies have 24 players listed on the playing roster and six of those hail from the state of Washington. Three more are from Canada.
