STILLWATER, Minn. -- For the entire 2005 season, the Concordia women's golf team always shot their best score of a two-day tournament on the final day of competition. Unfortunately for the Cobbers, that rule was broken in the last round at the MIAC Championship Meet held at StoneRidge Golf Course in Stillwater, Minn.

Concordia entered the final round tie for fourth place, only seven shots out of third place at 362. The Cobbers weren't able to keep pace with the other top four teams in the tournament and fell into a fifth place finish after shooting a team score of 373.

Freshman Afton Pender also felt the pressure at the top of the MIAC leaderboard. She was also tied for fourth after day one. Needing to finish in the top 10 to earn all-conference honors, she carded a 91 and finished in 11th - one stroke away from an all-conference award. It is the first time all season that she finished with a score in the 90's.

All five Concordia players submitted cards with scores in the 90's. Christie Brink had a final round 97 and finished at 187. Erin Douglass came in with a 98 and ended with a 189. Katie Pietsch bettered her opening round of 97 and shot a 94. The biggest turnaround from the opening day came from Sarah Tabery. After struggling to a 101 in the opener, she finished strong with a 91.
