Complete 2008 MIAC Meet Results

MOORHEAD, Minn. (10/28/09)-- Once again Concordia will enter the MIAC Championship Meet with a chance to finish anywhere in five different team spots. CC enters the conference meet after winning their first multi-team championship since of the season. Concordia won the team title at the Cobber Invite on Oct. 13 by placing four runners in the top six and finishing with a final team score of 25 which was over 20 points clear of runner-up St. Scholastica. The first-place finish capped a regular season where Concordia posted a pair of top 3 team finishes and also placed seventh at the Division I and II Montana State meet.

For the third straight year, the Cobbers will be led by Hailey Brenden (So., Rothsay, Minn.). Brenden has fought off an early-season leg injury and looks to be rounding back into top form for the conference meet. She is coming off a second-place finish at the Cobber Invite where she ran a 23:58.9. Brenden has also posted two other top six finishes and finished in the top 25 at the Montana State Invite. Brenden will be hoping to capture her third straight MIAC All-Conference honors at the meet.

During Brenden’s absence, Concordia had several other runners step into the team spotlight. Junior Rachel Pederson (Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata HS) has posted several quality finishes during the season. She placed fourth at the Cobber Invite with a time of 24:23.6. Pederson has traded second-place team finishes with freshman Elisabeth Hanson (Moorhead, Minn.). Hanson was the team’s top finisher at the Roy Griak Invite and posted a time of 19:58.00 at the Jamestown Invite to finish in fifth place – one spot behind Brenden. The other two spots in the team’s top five could be filled by Kristy Singlestad (Jr., Waseca, Minn.), Britney Barnett (Jr., Valley City, N.D.), McKayla Patterson (Sr., Havre, Mont.) and Anna Hagen (Sr., East Grand Forks, Minn.). All four runners have consistently been in the top five of the team in every meet of the season.
