(10/07/08)-- Concordia sophomore Hailey Brenden (Rothsay, Minn.) was named the MIAC Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week it was announced by the league office on Tuesday. The award marks the first time in her career that she has won the conference weekly honor. She is also the first Cobber women's cross country runner to take home the weekly award since Rachel Charpentier earned the honor back in 2006. Brenden earned Athlete of the Week honors for her performance at the Jimmie Invitational on Friday. She ran a 19:14.00 in the five-kilometer event and finished in second place. It is the fourth time in the past five meets that Brenden has posted a top four individual finish. It is also the second time in the past three meets she has recorded a runner-up finish. Brenden's finish helped the Cobbers claim second place in the meet. Concordia had their best overall team score in any meet this season as they finished with 37 points and were only eight points behind the team champion Jamestown.
