(10/31/09)-- Concordia used a pack-like mentality and finished ninth at the MIAC Championship Meet in St. Paul on Saturday. All seven of the Cobber runners finished within one minute of each other and the top five CC athletes posted times within 48 seconds of one another. It marks the second straight season that Concordia has finished ninth at the conference meet. The Cobbers expected to finish anywhere from sixth to ninth place at the meet but a long week of sickness and unforeseen circumstances took its toll on training and preparation. Even the usually reliable Hailey Brenden struggled to get in to top gear and could only muster a 31st place finish. Brenden had earned All-Conference honors in her first two seasons but recorded a time of 24:15.9 and was seven seconds behind the final finisher for All-Conference Honorable Mention honors. Brenden was the top CC finisher at the meet but was followed closely behind by Rachel Pedersen, McKayla Patterson, Kristy Singlestad and Britney Barnett. Those were the top five finishers for the Cobbers. Pedersen clocked a 24:25.8 and Barnett, who was the team's final point scorer at the meet, ran a 25:03.1. The Cobbers will look to regroup in two weeks when they compete at the NCAA Regional Meet at Grinnell College in Iowa on Saturday, Nov. 14. Team Results 1. Carleton - 65 Top 20 Individual Results 1. Marie Borner, Sr - 21:43.0 - Bethel Concordia Team Results 9. Concordia-Moorhead
