FARGO, N.D. (9/04/09)-- The calendar year might read 2009 but it could be 2007 or 2008 for the Concordia women's cross country team as Hailey Brenden led the Cobbers at another invite. Brenden, now a junior, raced to a 19:26.86 at the NDSU Invite in Fargo, N.D. on Friday and finished in sixth place. She was one four Cobber runners to finish in the top 15 of the meet.

As a team Concordia placed eight runners in the top 20 and finished in third place - only seven points behind runner-up MSU Moorhead. The host Bison won the event with a final team score of 21 points.

Concordia brought a "boat load" of runners to the meet as 28 athletes competed in maroon and gold for the team. It was one of the largest contingents for a Cobber team in the past five years.

Besides Brenden, the top five scorers who figured in the team scoring for the meet included Rachel Pederson (12 - 20:16.00, Elisabeth Hanson (13 - 20:26.21), Kristy Singelstad (15 - 20:42.53) and Kristin Slette (17 - 20:48.98).

Concordia will have two weeks off before returning to action at the Montana State Invite on Sept. 19.
