Meet Recap

SPEARFISH, S.D. (9/13/08)-- After a two-week break from competition, Concordia returned to racing form by competing in the Black Hills Invite in Spearfish, S.D. The Cobbers used top 20 finishes from seven different runners to claim second place in the team competition.

For the second straight meet Concordia was led by sophomore Hailey Brenden who ran a 16:22.01 and finished in fourth place. She was less than seven seconds off of the second-place finisher.

Fellow sophomore Rachel Pederson was the only other CC athlete to finish in the top ten at the meet. She posted a time of 17:22.33 and finished in tenth place.

Concordia had a pack of runners who finished from 13th to 19th place. The Cobbers had five runners claim five of the seven spots. Brittany Christiansen and Kristy Singlestad raced to the 13th and 14th spots. Christiansen came home in a time 17:38.87, while Singlestad was right behind with a mark of 17:43.72.

Two of the three other top 20 Cobbers were freshmen. Jamie Levine ran a 17:51.52 and finished 16th and Shelby Goettemoeller came in 19th place with a time of 18:00.96. The final member of the seven-person top 20 team was sophomore Britney Barnett who came in just ahead of Goettemoeller in a time of 18:00.06.

Concordia will now compete in the Ron Pynn Invitational hosted by UND and held at the Ray Richards Golf Course on Friday, Sept. 19 at 4 p.m.
