Meet Recap:

ST. PAUL, Minn. (10/27/07)-- Concordia placed a pair of runners in the top 20 at the MIAC Championship Meet held at Como Park Golf Course in St. Paul on Saturday and finished in seventh place as a team. The seventh-pace finish is one place higher than the Cobbers was seeded heading into the meet.

The seventh-place finish marks the second consecutive season that Concordia has finished seventh at the conference meet. Last year CC finished with 157 points and was six points behind Macalester. This year the Cobbers ended with a score of 170 but placed eight points in front of the Scots.

For the fifth straight meet Concordia was led by freshman Hailey Brenden. Brenden ran a 23:01.01 and finished in eighth place. Her top ten finish earns her MIAC All-Conference honors. She becomes the first freshman from Concordia to place in the top ten at the MIAC Meet in the past 20 years.

Brenden was joined in the top 20 by senior Maria Middleton. Middleton ran a 23:19.3 and was the major reason the Cobbers were able to finish one spot ahead of their eight-place seed.

Rounding out the top five for CC were Britney Barnett, Anna Hagen and Meagan Hansen. Barnett finished in a time of 24:22.30 and Hagen and Hansen were less than 18 seconds behind her.

Concordia will have two weeks off before competing at the NCAA Regional Meet at St. Olaf on Saturday, Nov. 10 at 11 a.m.
