FARGO, N.D. (08/31/06)-- Concordia officially began the post Natalie Hanson era on Friday at the NDSU Cross Country Open at Rose Creek Golf Course in Fargo, N.D. The Cobbers showed why they have regularly turned out top-flight runners as they posted a solid second-place finish, beating cross-town rivals MSU Moorhead and NDSU.

Concordia finished with a total of 64 points which was seven better than the Bison and 28 in front of the Dragons. South Dakota State won the meet with a final team score of 21.

A trio of Cobber upperclassmen appears ready to pick up the torch left by Hanson's graduation. Senior Rachel Charpentier was the top Concordia runner at the meet, finishing 13th in a time of 19:24.01. She was joined by junior Meagan Hansen and senior Erica Lundgren. Hansen (no relation to Natalie) ran a 19:39.67 and placed 15th. Lundgren finished 18th in a time of 19:48.63.

Freshman Bergen Holzworth was right behind Lundgren, finishing in 19th place with a mark of 19:58.85. The quartet was the only Concordia athletes to break the 20-minute barrier.

A pair of college bookends rounded out the top six for the Cobbers. Freshman Anna Hagen clocked a time of 20.11.59 and finished 22nd. Senior Heather Schuster was close on her heels, placing 23rd in a time of  20:23.79.
